I agree. The TOB is rubbing on that metal ring. When it spins, it's generating the slight metal shavings and some dust.
There's nothing wrong with the assembly, unfortunately lol

After briefly studying the pic, it appears as though the piece in the center of the diaphragm spring is not always centered as the throwout bearing is pressing into it. Either that or it's able to wobble a bit. It looks like an apparatus that is normally used for pull clutches (Supra and IS250) with the TO bearing on the inside. Problem is, the only thing centering it here are the diaphragm spring fingers. On a pull clutch, it's mounted to the TO bearing, which has a hub that likely slides on a snout. Just spit balling here....

And/Or the diaphragm fingers are spinning faster than the piece... they will definetly cut into that collar and produce shavings.

thanks for that. when this happened to me by builder Pablo, the owner of Tandem Off Road, called Gadget at URD about it, and if i understood the conversation correctly that is what was said, and was noted as a design flaw. but I'm not 100% on that. i could have misunderstood something.

    I hope I don’t run into this

I am getting a strange rattle not sure if it’s a broken plastic clip somewhere or something with the clutch when I push in it seems to go away. Up hill in 2nd I can really hear the rattle. There’s a thread somewhere but has not been solved yet.

I just got off the phone with Gadget.... Gadget said he can't for the life of him figure out the squealing noise... we're the only two (apparently) that's had the issue. Gadget said he can't even figure out why sending you that replacement part fixed it. He thinks the metal ring there isn't getting centered properly and is scrubbing around making the squealing noise and throwing off shavings. However, he can't guarantee that's the issue.

My comment back was that i'm not happy with the money i spent and obviously something with their product isn't working as intended causing me a huge loss of time and money. He couldn't even guarantee me a refund if i sent it back.

Needless to say my confidence level isn't very high and I'm pretty hot about the situation.

He also stated he can't tell me things aren't degrading in the assembly.... great.

Gadget is sending me that wavy washer thing. I'll contemplate my options.

I'm not super happy with URD and their service at the moment. If it was any other larger company, I feel like they'd offer a full refund if i sent the product back since it's obviously a badly designed bit.

How can we be the only two with this issue??

Ah, last thing. Gadget said he can't understand how that metal ring isn't seating in place when the clutch is to the floor. He stated there's several thousand pounds of pressure on the ring at that point and it shouldn't be spinning

Gadget is pretty good with his shit but I understand the frustration. I’d be upset too. Is it possible when they put the new clutch in when they were putting everything back together they missed a step or did something wrong? There’s a thread on that somewhere with a 3rd gen with the URD clutch.

Myself and my buddy installed it. I can't imagine we missed anything. It's a straight forward replacement process, nothing unusual

I sent gadget that video of me spinning the adapter ring and his response was:
The adapter ring should be fitting a little more snug. It does have to be a little loose at this point because as the bearing pushes down on the fingers to release the clutch the fingers come closer together. If it is to tight, it will bind and can go over center and prevent it from re-engaging.
Great, so now i need to figure out how to get this shit out of my truck and send it in while finding a place to store my inop truck. They still refuse to monetarily help me through this even though it's a manufacturer defect/misdesigned part.

It's like obviously you're not gaming the system and there's a legit issue.

This was Gadget's response when it comes to a replacement...
What we can do, if you want, return the pressure plate to us and we will bolt it to a flywheel and better fit and adapter ring with less play. That should resolve the issue, then return it to you so you can reinstall it.
I don't find that to be an appropriate response. I think part of it might be that they are out of stock on the stage 2 kits last i looked.

Throw the washer away. There's nothing unique about his pressure plate, fingers, or finger height except URD uses this washer. I didn't have a wave washer on the two they sent me it was just the washer with a spiral cut retainer. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. Gadget specially told me not to remove it. I'm not sure why

They offered me a refund if I sent the clutch and pressure plate back, which I appreciate. I'm still unsure what I'm going to do. I'll probably install the new bit to see if it fixes the issue. I'd hate to give this clutch up... I don't think anyone else makes a high quality one

Replacement adapter ring and washer thingy received from URD:

I assume the smaller washer goes into the same assembly, somehow centering or keeping that adapter ring quiet.

I'm working on logistics that might allow me to get this done next week if time allows.

Maybe it is the camera picking up insignificant details (oil smears?), but that almost looks like used parts?

You're not wrong. I wonder if It was removed from a pressure plate it was already installed on?

Doesn't look like a TOB has hit it
