Long story short, I hit a turkey and insurance is replacing the hood. I always see guys wanting a hood with a scoop, so my question is, is it worth saving the old hood for guys always searching for these things? It could easily be fixed and doesn't have any creasing.

If it can be fixed, why is your insurance replacing it?

Not a clue. Body shop quoted new hood and grille and they sent the check.

You should be able to get a something for it depending on severity of damage/cost to repair.
Those purchasing Sport scooped hoods often have to have them painted anyway to match their trucks.

If it's easily repairable why not just have the body shop fix it and then pocket the extra cash?

Checks in both our names. Plus they will have everything prepped and ready to install when I show up. Should be a quick thing and I'm not without a vehicle/driving some loaner. Call me lazy but it isn't my mkney so I could care less.

You dont fix hoods, you replace them. Putting body filler on a hood has a pretty high chance of breaking off. Hoods are generally thinner and less rigid than a door is, so they will flex much more. And slamming a hood shut will cause the filler to crack.

Repairing a hood with little to no filler takes a lot of time, its simpler to just replace the hood.

The thought crossed my mind of having a non skewp hood put on. I spent the money on a spartan x customs light bar for in there tho so I didn't wanna change.
