I've had em all. I'm currently running oem retrofits. Don't get the Tacomabeast crap. If you want those, get them off eBay and buy the extended warranty. You will use it. Plus output is truly garbage. You will be happy with unboxing and daytime but sad at night.

I made retrofits w non oem. They're unable to be adjusted even though they have the knobs. Good times! I may swap out those internals w oem housings.

Do any of you guys happen to know of any camping around the Ft. Mountain area that isn’t in the state park? Chatsworth / Ellijay are both nearby towns.

I’ve been looking in this area lately too we like to go to the state park but are trying to find something else camping wise to take my 2yo son. I can’t get too primitive with him and my wife but I was told Doll Mountain on carters lake by a friend. I’m looking all over but trying to find something more like lake dockery /smaller lake and less sites but in the same area you are.

Best bet is going to be the Cohutta. Just a little farther East on 52 is a south entrance. Also, Peeples Lake is just south on 411. They use to allow camping, it’s been 2 years since I’ve been there though, not sure if it’s still open for camping or not.

Ah yeah, unless I'm looking in the wrong places the nearest campsite looks to be over an hour away. Thanks for the suggestion.

Any of y’all have an iPhone 7 Plus or 8 Plus? I have a bunch of cases (Otterbox, Lifeproof) that I don’t need anymore since I don’t have the phone anymore. Totally free if you want them.

Too many to list. I’m lazy
Ok so question for the RTT experts here.

I can across a Yakima Skyrise 3 yesterday for $849.99. It’s a discontinued model and was the display in the store and is marked down to sell. Never used and still brand new.

question is, I see almost every other brand of RTT almost daily somewhere but don’t see the Yakima’s very often. I’m also not a huge fan of the color of it but when it’s on the truck it’s black so don’t really care that much.

has anyone had one of these? Are they decent? Is it safe to assume that when I decide to sell it to upgrade later on I will be able to recoup at least most of the cost?

I looked at these back when they were new. I was interested mainly due to their size to weight ratio. However after diving more into the materials used and weight of fabric I passed on it after seeing and feeling the difference of the CVT. To me the Yakima felt more like a traditional 2 pole ground tent due to the thin material where the CVT’s appeared more robust and to use more of a cabin tent material.
Again, this was when they were still in production and a higher price point. $850 seems competitively priced to get into a RTT.

Lots of leaking issues with the early gen Yakima tents. Like @TRDridgerunner mentioned, the materials used were pretty light duty. I have zero use with one, but fondled one pretty good at an REI scratch/dent sale. I decided not to buy that one which had minimal use and was priced at $450. While cheap for a RTT, $450 was still more than I felt it was worth to me.

Also the Smittybilt Overlander tents go on sale for that price during big mark down events.

thanks for the input guys. I think I’m going to stick to my original plan of holding out for a nicer tent. Maybe I’ll catch a Black Friday deal this year haha

If it’s your first RTT, highly recommend watching the used market. Got my gofsr high country for close to that price with only 3 nights in it, looked brand new

Yea I watch it constantly. People either want basically full retail for a used tent or have a good deal and live 1000 miles away. One of these days though.

Not always. I can find them. Probably not the kinda deals I was swinging, but better than retail.
Picking up my AluCab in 2 days!!!
