@slander made a good point about MTs and snow and I'll add rain too they lack in good wet traction too. There are some good aggressive ATs out there that do well on the trails I ran Duratracs they did good E load range, Cooper STT Maxx, Nitto Ridge Grappler (heavy AF). Those are my top suggestions with actually seeing them used.

Honestly get them siped, and they will work just as good as an AT in the wet. The only thing an AT has over an MT is snow and road noise. I would personally not ever run an AT on a truck used offroad in the SE, especially with how awesome MTs are for street use now!!:crapstorm:

Remember that most guys here won't know how or what you are talking about when you reference siping a tire. Also most of the guys will see 1/60th the amount of dirt that you or I or some other will see in a given yr. With that I'd prepare more for st and take the disadvantages offroad.

Yea I know you have to change driving habits for snow and rain. I had the hankook dynapro M/T’s that I daily drove on my 87 and they drifted the in rain bad.. ended up drifting onto 85 from billy Graham more than once..

    No sipeing down here?

See I disagree, I only wheeled a few times a year and still rocked MTs even with having to deal with ice, snow, a 100+mile daily interstate commute and this was back in the it was either a bfg mt or a swamper days for tire choices. Just about every person I have seen that has put ATs on something that sees dirt, upgrades to MTs pretty soon after or wish they did. Really it's a no brainer in 2020 with all the awesome street friendly MTs out there!!

    Agreed,

I put the A/T’s on when it really saw nothing more than wet grass and gravel. It was a dd and weekend warrior Fishing/ camping. No real “wheeling” now that I can get to work weather it’s broke or not I don’t worry so much so let’s wheel it!!

Naw we don't really get into that unless you are messing with them to get better tread design or cutting the treads deeper. In fact I'm not sure I know of a tire shop that does sipeing down here.

MAYBE a commercial tire shop. But I’ve never seen it advertised anywhere else

What I can't figure out is how me @JimboAnz and @Shibbyjeep came up on Daniel last time I was there. We didn't come up the steep rock face, but we went back down the ledges where we went up this weekend. Supposedly we went up the back side of Daniel, but it seems like we went a different way.

Where we went up isn't the ledges I doubt Jimbo took ya'll up the front and through the rock garden where we could look down from the top there. You came in from the bridge we came in from the trails down at the parking lot. Also they flattened everything you and them went through that was all rutted out and stuff so it looked way different to you.

Maybe. Where we came out was on top of Daniel, but it has been a while, so maybe I am just not remembering it right. Be curious to hear what Jimbo has to say if he remembers the day.
