That’s what I thought, and was hoping for. The bracket puts the exhaust way down, this is the main reason that I chose the magnaflow kit, it’s mounted high, and above the spring.

yea, no need for the OME exhaust bracket.

Is that a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust (bent by Magnaflow)? If so, any chance do you have a part number?

'04 Prerunner v6 xtra cab here

    Current setup:
    Monroe quick-crap
stock leafs that to my knowledge have 166k on them.... they at least have 90k. I don't tow/haul often and it's never much weight. I do have toolbox in the back that stays full of tools/stuff
    ARB Bumper
    no winch
    no 4x4 weight
no weight other than hopefully a factory skid coming soon(if anyone can sell me theirs, I'd love you)

All this is confusing as heck and gives me a headache. After reading about a hundred threads I'm torn on the below choices
With my current setup that will not be changing in weight, for riding as a DD on smooth/rough highway with the occasional trail/hunting road/dirt road, what is my best option?
I don't care about lift... If I get it, then cool, if not, whatever... with that said, I don't want to have it nose-diving much. I don't do rock climbing or hardcore offroading. I've read where the rear 5100 and OME shocks have a longer compressed rate, so the rear needs to be lifted an inch to avoid bottoming out the shocks.

    Options for front:
    881 with 5100 at 0 setting
    882 with 5100 at 0 setting
    881 with OME shocks
    882 with OME shocks

    Options for rear springs:
Dakar with however many leafs recommended removed
    General Springs normal springs
    General Springs HD springs

    Options for rear shocks:
    5100 shocks
    OME shocks

I'd appreciate some help. Thanks in advance.

Yes it’s a bolt on kit from magnaflow. Part number is 15811. It’s a challenge to get lined up properly, but that’s because I was looking at the muffler wanting it to be mounted either horizontal or vertical. Mine ended up being mounted at an angle in between, close to a 45deg angle. It’s been on there for 2 years now, I like it a lot.

if you're going blue, i would also entertain the 8H8 bright blue metallic, last year used was on the 95 pre-Taco, i had a 95 single cab in that color and it was so nice as far as i remember after 25 years lol

So I’m aware that the Dakar’s are relatively noisy mostly due to the front eye bushing, which is what I’m experiencing right now and I know that I could just get the poly bushing (I think it’s the poly bushing) and that’s suppose to help a lot. My question is will the noisyness eventually go away on its own? Or is it pretty permanent?

Honestly it sounds like you just want a stock suspension. Your truck stock will do everything you listed above. If this is true, then just get stock replacement options. Cheaper and better suited to your use. What is wrong with your Monroe quick struts? I've used their products with no problems on other vehicles. And my stock leaf's had 250k on them and were probably worn out compared to new, but still did fine for normal use. Just keep them and put new stock shock options on the rear.

Only once I started loading 1000lbs of stuff and people in my truck and hitting rougher more remote roads did I go for the OME lift.

Only get the OME setup, if you want a lift, need to carry more weight, or both - make no mistake, all the options you listed above WILL lift your truck, except maybe general SD springs in the rear. If you want to use OME stuff, don't overthink it. ARB has already designed a suspension system (OME kit) that works together well.

Just get the 881's in a full OME kit from wheelers with everything included, like $1400 out the door I think - don't bother to remove leaf's from the pack - if you need to remove leaves, you don't need that leaf pack, IMO, just stay stock. Your truck will ride stiffer with no extra weight on an OME kit. If you do not want lift, and never load up will 500lbs of stuff to go adventure, you do not need this setup.

This is my opinion based on my experience with a stock truck on 250k old suspension then installing 880's and Dakars with nitrochargers. Only you can decide what you want out of your truck.

    Hope this helps a little.

How long was it before your Dakars started making noise? I put a lot of grease on the bushings for my Dakars and they are silent, but I have less than 1K miles on them.

Mine only squeak a little. I think people overreact to how loud they are.

What about the wheels on your truck in these pics with 255/80r17's? Any idea of the backspacing on those wheels?

I have no idea. I have only tried 265/75R16 on the OEM "snowflake" wheels and then the current 255/75R17 on these FJ wheels.
There are several tire & wheel threads for 1st gens on here that you should be able to find with a search.
Likely you will have rubbing - I did the pinch weld mod in order to stop these tires from rubbing.

Was your rubbing with the 255/75r17's due to the height or the width of the tire?

Both. If that doesn't make sense to you, you'll have to read up on why offset/width/height of tire are all variables in the equation. Most people claim "XXX doesn't rub", but that is usually in a straight line with a 3" lift and not turning the wheels or compressing the suspension. Also, it changes if you have stock or aftermarket upper control arms (UCAs). You'll likely get a lot more info in other threads than here.

So I’m going through retorquing all my OME bolts since it’s been about 1k since install. Do these nuts on the Dakar’s need to be tightened or are they done to spec in factory?
