Which if I suddenly saw a rattlesnake next to me, I most definitely would

 

And for the record, I'd rather walk up on a rattlesnake any day than a Goliath bear eating tarantula or whatever they are

 

But those tarantulas aren't poisonous are they?

Tarantulas aren't poisonous, they're venomous.

only the Mojave one is likely to kill you unless you're old or have a heart condition, but I guess if we're talking tarantula or Mojave Rattler....I dunno. This is why I avoid the desert lol.

Western Diamondback rattler

 

Nah that little bugger is about as poisonous as they come in my area. Pretty mild in the grand scheme of snakes since most hospitals just monitor you without giving you antivenom for their bite. We do have some rattle snakes in the mountains but they arent as bad or as common as western rattlers.

They'll put you 6 feet under.

We saw them all the time at Camp Pendleton.

They're protected though so there's that.

 

They are but not as likely to be fatal as the Mojave Rattler. Its 10x more venomous than any other

Most rattlesnake bites won't kill you unless you're already compromised or don't get treated

 

The pumpers out in the oil patch south of town run into them all the time in location buildings or next to tank.

You can live from pretty much any US snake bite if you get help in time.
