Which step / nerf bars did you install on D-cab?

I just picked up an 08 PreRunner SR5 D-cab, and due to my family needing to be able to get in and out of this thing without a whole lot of difficulty, I need to get some step / nerf bars on it. This truck sits up a good bit higher that my 04 did. What bars / nerfs did you install, and what do you think of them? I am going with a black powdercoat finish in whatever I end up choosing. No bling here!

 

Toyota OEM "Tube Steps". I fail.

Definitely should have went with something black. I like the shape and size but the color doesn't match the chrome bumper or wheels and there is a ton of plastic on them. I want to get them covered in black Linex or some other truck bed spray. Might ditch them as is and get a set of gently used Westin or Aries and then truck bed spray 'em black.

 

I went with N-fab tube steps. No complaints so far.

I went with the OEM steps. Unlike some, I'm a huge fan of them. They tuck up nicely to the truck and do the major job that I ask of them, blocking rocks and such. Shorter people who get in the truck seem to use them just fine.

 

i got the chrome smitty built nerf bars. only had them for a couple months but it looks good and helps me in and out of my truck. i bought them local from 4wheelsparts.

I went with Avid Off-Road step bars and I love them!!!

I got some cheap ones off of eBay. They mounted in factory location and do their job just fine. I've had two people get in at the same time an put full weight on them and they hold up so I guess they're pretty good.

 

Hey guys.... I really like what I see here for step bars...

Here is what I went for.... these "running boards" were made right here in Muskoka, Ontario...(Algonquin Industries??) They have black plastic covering them that matches the plastic on the top of the box...No drilling required....even the pattern matches the stock plastic...... I could't believe it when I first saw them.....

I went with the factory black tube steps. I like'em.

 

^x2 for eBay. They've got the black ones pretty cheap, like around $120 shipped. I'm getting the stainless ones for Xmas and were $150 shipped (don't tell my wife I know). I obviously haven't installed them yet, but I'm guessing they'll work just fine.

I like the factory running boards for real world use. Unless its a welded type.. bolted to frame slider, they're all just tin cans durability wise. The factory stuff at least looks right.

 

I don't plan to lift my truck more than an AAL and Bilstiens will give, so I'm looking hard at the Avid bolt-on sliders for looks and steps. I like the step bars but I don't need a short step for a non-lift. Avid's sliders look like they sit high and tight.

 

Those look sweet. Checked the site and said they came unfinished. Did you have to paint yours or did they come black?

 

I went with the Westin Platinum Step bars. I really dont ever use them but some people in my family have a hard time getting in without them.
