Hey guys! These fuel cans look excellent. One question for you guys- can you have this mounted in your bed AND use a folding bed cover? Just by eyeballing it looks like it would be too high for the cover to close securely.

It's a VERY tight fit but it is possible! Just barely.

hey thanks so much for doing the research! Looks like it might work. I guess the trick is not get a mount that adds height to the whole enchilada.

Perhaps a stupid question, but what’s the attraction to Wavian fuel cans?

The high quality and quality control. When you buy one, you know it’ll never leak or exhaust fumes on you. It’s the Kings or Baja Designs of Jerry cans.

I’d like to see you lift a 20 gallon tank and pour it into the gas tank. That’s like 140lbs of fuel give it take.

Eek, I don’t know about that. They may be well made, but they don’t hold up the same as a Scepter military spec can would. I collect WWII German and Brit Jerry Cans (the Brits copied the German cans). These cans would be a copy of those cans. While metal cans are good, they are not as tough as the modern Scepter can. I just don’t get what the hype is about with these.

“I don’t get the hype”. I just explained, they’re extremely well made. Have you watched the video posted earlier of the testing wavian does? They drop it from all sorts of angles and then light it on fire with no issues. What more abuse would it need to see for us as Tacoma owners?

A metal can would puncture quite easily compared to the modern equivalent. Just saying. I’ve seen it. There is a reason these metal cans are no longer used by NATO counties, and it has nothing to due with cost.

    An unbiased video...

Lol, did you watch that video? Half of it is about how to fix them when they start leaking.

I know some guys who use the Wavian cans, and have no issues with them. They're cold rolled steel. I trust that over glorified plastic.

I'm sure either one is excellent in their own way.

EDIT: where have you seen a Wavian can get punctured?

How terrible of fuel economy are you getting? I wouldn’t see a need for more than 10 extra gallons unless you are getting 10 mpg.

Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
I think was Wranglerstar on YouTube that really puts one to the test. He drove over it (it didn’t leak) he set it on fire, dropped it from various heights. They are very high quality as far as fuel cans go.

Looks like you also have a black can...have any issues with them over heating? Asking for the OP, who 5 pages into this has received 2 metric tons of opinions on color, but no answer to his original question (maybe one, I think). @TWTaco
