Yeah, the lack of bouncing off rocks will definitely help a ton.

Short edit I made of the footage I got from Colorado and Moab.
Second half of the video is poison spider in moab.

I started having a weird issue on the trail where I smelled a strong smell of fuel coming from the driver front side of the truck, so that was the only trail I ran while we were there.
Thinking it's possibly the charcoal canister since it's on the driver side fender well in the engine bay. It went away after driving it on the road back from the trail though. Wonder if it had something to do with the heat since it was a high of like 102 that day. Idk

Good stuff though. Definitely wanna go back when I have the dual cases in and go with a crew to tackle some of the other terrain moab has to offer.

    RF1A housing showed up today.

    Thanks @allenfab!
Just need to clearance it for the 4.7's. I dig the blue powdercoat finish too (old inchworm housing).

I had to do the same. Not a hard job. Just took a while to make it perfect.

Sweet. Yea I thought about taking it my buddies machine shop to do it, but I figured my grinder should do the trick just fine.
Assuming you just used a grinding wheel on your grinder to do it?

Got it smogged and passed thankfully.
Hit up @smogman2011 in Walnut creek at Walnut creek star smog. Always cool to run into like-minded people from the forum randomly.

    Friday September 25th

Installed a new OEM transmission mount. Might do the marmount on the old one if I feel like it. Although with the crawlbox and the poly mount for it, it'll probably be pointless.

Also bled & refilled the clutch with new fluid

Did a day trip to Signal peak with @Dan8906 & Chris and Cory. Don't know their usernames on here. Dan feel free to tag them if they're on here

Fun easy trail that takes you to some great views. Ran it from Eagle lakes entrance and back to Cisco grove campgrounds.

Also checked out Fordyce when we were done. Made it up the gate keeper which was fun. Def wanna go back at some point and see how much further I can make it on the trail with 33's :anonymous:

I would have "MarMount" the new transmission mount before putting in the truck. That's what I'm planning to do with motor mounts whenever I get around to that.

Yea been thinking about still doing it. It was a lot better out on the trail just this last weekend though.

I don't wanna make the whole drivetrail too solidly mounted though. Having a bit of play in there I think will help since throttle control is important with a manual in super low range from what I hear.

I'd love to do it to the motor mounts too, but it's gonna be a royal PITA to get them out without removing the front diff. Depending on how motivated I'm feeling, might try and knock it out while the truck is down for the duals. We'll see

Yeah, I feel that. I'm going to have to get use to the few extra vibrations from the crawlbox mount. Nothing major, but it's definitely noticeable. I'm also personally going to wait until I'm SASing my rig to do the "MarMount" motor mounts. Figured it would be an easy install when I'm building a new frame section.

lol yea definitely easier to get to them that way by chopping the whole front end off

Been working on building up the crawlbox.

Pressed the bearings back off the MC gears to clean them in the parts washer to get the waxy protective coating off.

Got the remainder of the needed parts in finally. Although the TG rear adapter showed up damaged. It doesn't look bad in the picture, but the hole is oblonged and the aluminum is pushed up so that the mating surface isn't flat there. I could prob grind it down and drill it out, but i'd rather not chance it. So low range is gonna send me a replacement. More waiting...

    20200930_151003.jpg

Welded on the keystock onto the shift fork last night as well as clearanced the case for the 4.7 low speed gear.

    20200930_172924.jpg
    20200930_172932.jpg

Just need to grind off some material on the bearing snap rings for both the input gear and counter gear. They are a bit too thick.
Once I get the replacement adapter in, it should go together pretty quickly.

Just look at that, I can tell you're going to have to shave more off the housing. Dry fit everything together before you seal it up and make sure everything clears.

Yea I put the low speed gear in there to check for clearance and it spins just fine at the right depth.
I was thinking about maybe going a bit more just for more oil to get around it.

Was looking at your pic and was trying to figure out why you clearanced this spot. I didn't have to

The design might have changed since my box was built back in 2006. I had to clearence there since the top set of gears was interfering there.
