I have a couple of questions regarding truck tires -- my Kumho Crugen HT51 tires have over 50,000 miles on them with a tread depth remaining of 4-5mm. For rainy weather, would you be looking to get new tires or am I still good for another year or so?

What are the traction differences, if any, between rear wheel drive and front wheel drive trucks, particularly in inclement weather?

    Thanks.

@Discount Tire has a nice graphic on this.

Rear drive trucks with empty beds are mediocre in the rain in my experience. Tires make a big difference though. The BFG A/Ts I had before were a whole other classy of shitty, while the Michelin LTX M/S2 I've got now are fantastic.

This is good to know. This is my first truck. I was driving today while it was raining and the truck got away from me for a second. Luckily, there were no other cars near me. I'll admit that I was driving faster than normal while turning (not unusual for me), but it was the first time I lost control of a vehicle. I immediately thought of the low tread on the tires, but wanted to ask for opinions before I spent money on a set of new AT's that I want.

4 mm is 5/32" which is getting pretty marginal. I suspect its time to start shopping, depending on how much you drive.

One will be alright in the rain, and one is a Ridgeline..
Sounds like your tires are worn out. 4-5mm is donezo.

Thanks, guys. Just pulled the trigger on a set of Falken Wildpeaks.
