I have a high clearance CBI (my third because the first time I did just the bumper) and with it I gained 6" of rear clearance because of the integrated hitch behind the license plate. if you plan to rock crawl a lot the high clearance can be a benefit because you will end up crunching your lower bed sides that are cut away on a high clearance. If the standard clearance bumper doesn't have a hitch integrated into it you won't gain anything in clearance. Not sure what your goals are. My truck could climb things with 33" tires and HC bumper that a 35" tired taco with stock bumper/hitch would hit and drag.

I eventually had to buy a bumper with a swing arm because my larger tires didn't fit under the truck anymore, and I won't lie the table and water holders are really nice for camp setup and saves you from bringing another table to camp. So if you aren't dragging your hitch around right now the standard clearance might work great for you. I run with idiots that have 37" tires and need as much height and clearance as I can get.

If you get a high clearance bumper make sure the manufacture runs supports from the sides to the frame or when you back into a rock the sides of the bumper will bend. Another thing to look at a bunch of the swing arm bumpers hang the cans and the tire at the top of the rear bumper.. this limits your departure angle even more. My water/gas/spare tire are almost a foot higher than the top of my rear bumper so they don't drag after the bumper clears. So check that .. you might be able to move the mounts up but some bumpers don't have any provision for that.

A disadvantage to the swing arm bumpers is don't put too much weight or at certain speeds, your truck will oscillate front to back.. mine is at 55mph-60mph.

It was an sos bumper listed in the manufacturer section. Looks like someone ordered opposite swing and then backed out. They didn’t update the listing and it ended up selling earlier in the week. Missed it

Pretty sure @singletrack_ftw is still trying to sell his high clearance if that’s what you want.

I used scottsdale mufflers and I would 10/10 recomend them. IIRC it was about $250 for a reroute AND to have a magnaflow muffler welded in place of my stock one

Thanks man I’m up in Scottsdale so I’ll check them out. I don’t need an aftermarket muffler so should end up a little cheaper. Was there a specific guy to use or did you just call them up and ask about exhaust reroute and they knew what to do?

They are pretty well known in all of the fb toyota groups I’ve been in. If you call ahead and talk about a reroute they know exactly what you need. I have pics in my build thread

For the hc bumper did you just cut it past the axle and have them put a down tip on it or is there a better way?

I trimmed my muffler long before getting a HC bumper. A simple chop off above the axle will do the truck and ensure it doesn’t get hung up on the leafs. The muffler shop re welded my previously trimmed tip onto the new muffler

Loving mine. I’ve thrown every terrain at them and they just keep impressing me. Not too noisy either. Only complaint I’ve heard about them is tread life, but that’s not really a concern for me

Been almost a year since I was researching them but that sounds about right. People were wanting 40-60k miles out of them but only getting 30k-ish. That said, since then I have heard of people getting 40k+ out of them on street rigs with proper rotation.

I just want 2yrs whether that’s 10k or 20k miles lol. But that’s heavily based on my usage
