I can go check to see if I have the bag it came in still when I get home.

From looking online I believe it is 42110E for the plug, and 42110D for the gasket.

Gear and locker install went great. However, I went over to Recon Motorsports so they could install the harrop e locker wiring harness. I was there for like 5 hours and the fuses kept blowing. They have no idea what is going wrong and believe it is a faulty harness. Any ideas/thoughts?

The wire could be grounded out on the inside of the case. Those lockers only need 12 volt positive and negative to engage and disengage magnet. Could be a pinched wire or a strained wire grounding out as it passes through the differential. I’ve repaired bad installs where the ring gear rips the wires apart from a bad install/pour training oversight of install. But on those no fuses blow because the wires aren’t touching anything.

Hmm I’m hoping not since I drove down here from Washington. I might stop by the shop tomorrow and see if they can work something out

Are they using the actual Nitro gear retail kit with the bearings etc or just few components like the ring, pinion and seals only?

    Got mine done recently.

Looking good so far after a few days of driving.

Got 4.56 installed on 33s and its not a huge difference. Does drive better, seems smoother also, but not a night and day difference in how it feels.

In 4x4 low it does pull the truck along harder just at idle.

After feeling how 4.56 is, If i didn't commute in this I would have gone 4.88 but for the 90% of fwy and 10% off road I do this is a good fit.

Got my install tomorrow! Just a quick question with regard to break in, what speeds can you drive during the fifteen mile intervals? I saw some speeds listed on the break-in post but it looked like there were in reference to the remainder of the break-in period. Thanks

A buddy and I just got ours done this morning. Driving feels so much better now.

2x fifteen min intervals with 15 min cool downs each, 65mph max

30min intervals with 30 min cool downs till you hit the 500 break-in period. 65mph max

Has anyone had any issues with gear howling, not the "hum", but howling? When I lift off the throttle now, my rear end is straight up howling. It hasn't been like this for the past 8,000 miles.

Nitro. It's not the typical Nitro hum. Ridden in 3 Tacoma's with 5.29's and none of there's make the sound mine does.

Mine has some but it is only at ~60mph and only when I am off the throttle completely. Give it some gas and the howl goes away. I hear it at ~58 to 62 MPH, it might be happening at other speeds but its not as loud as 60mph is. Most noticeable when getting off the freeway.

I went with 4.88 Revolution REM to try and avoid the Nitro hum.

Got the 5:29 re-gear done on Friday. Dealt with Carlos when I got down there. He was super awesome and made this an easy experience. Took about two and a half hours driving home and breaking in the gears. No issues at all, she drove smooth and I could tell the shifting has definitely improved. I went out to my driveway a couple hours later thinking I’d clean up any weeping that may have occurred and there wasn’t a drop to be found. Super clean install. Now to finish the 500 miles and get some time on the front gears. Also need to wire up the rear locker.

I hear an oscillating hum at around 60 mph and 2k RPM, which is more prevalent when accelerating. Glad to hear I am not the only one. I have a 5.29 3rd gen with K02 285/70/17s (32.8").

Trying to calibrate my speedometer, can anyone confirm the correct gear ratio for a stock 2018 crew cab, 4wd, 6 speed automatic TRD Sport? I thought they were 3:90 but that’s not working with my Rough Country speedometer recalibration. I’m still way off when I update it to 35’s with 5:29’s. Thanks

I believe it's 3.91, that should not be a big enough difference to matter though

Thanks! Yeah, I actually entered 3:909 into the programmer which is the correct gear ratio from what I can tell. I found another thread that suggest not entering the gear ratio at all, but rather just enter tire size. So that’s my next attempt.
