Yeah sounds about right. Nothing uncontrollable from personal experience.

I have BFG KM2's on at the moment and will be getting some toyo open county MT's as my next set. I have done a fair amount of offroading with some wheel lift and flexing and have not had any rubbing

I have a 2020 trd pro with 285/75/R16 and stock wheels. I’m running Nitto ridge grapplers. I had some rubbing in the rear of the wheel well on the mud flaps. Rubbing occurred in slow speed while turning towards full lock. I used a heat gun on the flaps and made it better. So then I put a 2.5 in spacer lift and new UCA’s. I thought this would fix the rubbing as well as give the tire size a more proportional look. I love the look but it actually made the rubbing a little worse. Now I just ignore the occasional rubbing.

Do you have any pictures with the 285s before the lift?

Do you think if you removed the mudflaps you would have had zero rubbing?

I have 285 75 r16 MTs with stock 16s on a TRD Off Road. I had rub on stock upper control arms at near full lock in my in reverse.

Granted I achieved this by lifting the Truck 3” up front and 2” in rear

Negative offset rims will fix this rub. Also I replaced control arms and doing cmc. I’ve already changed suspension to coilovers too. Super smooth ride post sway bar removal.

if you are handy pop off your sway bar and see how it rides. If you’re comfortable with it. I love the way it rides and I’ve done it to several trucks. Also owned older trucks with looser front ends so I like that feel. Like clouds compared to stiff feeling of spindles attached to frame

There are multiple threads on the topic of tall skinnies.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/put-255-85-16s-on-stock-or-wheels-and-suspension.491079/

Or if you want to play with the big boys, go 35's.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/intro-to-fitting-35s-3-lifts.594309/

I have 255/85r16s on stock rims. A handful of times I have encountered what sounded like rubbing on the fender when stuffing the front wheel. I don’t think my alignment guy did what I asked him to do and that the wheel could be pulled forward farther and eliminate the rubbing. I also had rubbing on the line to my shock remote reservoir which I fixed by rotating the reservoir.

Does it get rid of the loosness feeling in the front end??? popping the swaybar off is an easy 30min job. The thing I don't like is every man hole cover our large seem in the road is now felt in the steering wheel, it's not bad but it's felt and it bugs me. I drive a 19' Silverado and it's rock solid feel is what I'm used too so it's probably more me than anything. I'm taking the Tacoma hunting next week in some nasty terrain so might take the sway bar off to see how it does.

Give it a shot--- It feels way different than a Titan, Silverado. But is similar to my 99f150 v6 manual 5 speed. I like that softer feeling in a mini truck. Sway bay with the Icons was even rough. Took it off and made a big difference. I don't mind a little body roll. :jellydance::jellydance:

Are those ridge grapplers in a 265/75/16? If so what load range and if not what are those?
