Installing a new CV shaft (joint) due to ripped boots and loss of grease.

Does anyone recommend applying product to the boots themselves to extend the life on them so as to not tear prematurely?

I wiped one down with RTV when I found a small tear and haven’t had any issue. The one on the other side tore completely through about a few years later and I’m not sure how long it’s been torn, so I’m just going to replace it.
