Got it put together yesterday and on the truck this evening. Took a little effort getting the end panels to line up. Had a couple of the tab holes bent ,which didn't help. All in all pretty happy with it. Think I may need some bed stiffeners. Seems to flare out a bit toward the back. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Anybody have recommendations on good bed stiffeners?

There are threads about bed stiffeners and their actual usefulness. Regardless, I think they are a worthy investment for the extra tie down points.

Are you saying that the sides of your bed flare out toward the rear? Or the cap panels?
My cap overhangs on the inside of the bed a good bit more toward the tailgate than up toward the cap. But from the outside, if you count those little dots on the bed rail cap, there are fewer dots at both the cab end and tailgate end, and it widens in the middle. I had attributed it to the bedrails having a slight curve/ bulge to them not unlike the tailgate, whereas the cap is completely straight.
I'm running Rago Fabrications bed stiffeners- when you pop off the taillights and get a look at how the bed is made you can really see how flimsy they are- I feel like it's worth the piece of mind, especially if I ever run a roof top tent or any significant weight on the RSI cap.

looks even on left side but on the right it show more of the bed rail in the back. Lines up straight across the front of cab. Not sure if it's the bed or the cap. Either way it's not too bad. I'll probably still get some bed stiffeners

Yeah I see it- it's not a big deal to just loosen the cap and push it over a bit if it bothers you- You will probably want to do that (loosen the cap) before you install the bed stiffeners anyway, as the cap might give some resistance to pulling the bed tight with the stiffeners. I probably wouldn't mess with it until you install the stiffeners, you're likely the only one who will notice in the meantime.
Love that cement color with the black cap.

Thanks. I'll post some better pictures when I get it cleaned up. Overall I really like the cap

I don't think anybody has the complete harness. Maybe @OffroadAlliance.com can weigh in on this, but I was told RSI would cover the costs of getting the thing wired, or you can wait til they send the complete harness? Do I have that right?

Ah I see. My dealer in town is speaking to their rep so hopefully we can get it sorted. I'd really like to not have to splice wires and keep it plug and play.

Not sure what my installers did but they have mine wired up. Could be they did some splicing action. Haven’t taken a hard look at it but what I have seen it looks good and works as it should.

What I heard from @OffroadAlliance.com is that RSI will either reimburse you or pay for it to be done. I would rather wait for the plug n play harness as its much cleaner install for me personally.

RSI is offering to pay for professional installation. Simply take it to your local shop of choice and give RSI a call when it's done. They pay for the install over the phone via credit card.

For most people, simply tapping into their brake light wire and then grounding the other takes minutes. Don't disagree that a plug and play harness would be cleaner, but those are still a ways out from what we're being told.

The install was easy but it took me about three hours to put everything together. I had one person help me put the cap on but it is really heavy. So far it's waterproof besides when you go in a car wash and the high water pressure enters the positive air vent. However, dust does not get into the cap. My favorite part is the gullwing doors and sliding window. They are so useful. Unless they do some major improvements I won't be getting a 2.0.

The third brake light harness didn't match the "plug and play" harness for my Tacoma. I contacted RSI support and they set up an appointment with a local company so they could hardwire the third brake light. Also, they covered the cost of the install which was about $150 at my local shop.

Overall, I'm very happy with the RSI Smart Cap but there are some things to keep in mind. It's very heavy, so I suggest that you have bed stiffers just in case. Also, it's not easy to take off and on by yourself so you'll have to ask for help when you want to take it off. Lastly, I noticed that the rear is noticeably lower than the front (I also have the deceked system installed). My next upgrade will be the suspension to correct this problem.

If you have any more questions please let me know.

I slept in it for one night in SC and I didn't have a problem at all. I had two of the windows open for a cross breeze and a woobie. However, my dog slept in it and she fogged up the glass.

Thanks for the info! I'm curious on the positive air vent... is that a fixed vent or do you need to pop it open to use and close when it rains? Any water get in when it rains?
