    Well, on the way to mail another nh guy the raptor liner and my truck died.

    wtf.

    noticed no heat. Then over heat. Then dash all lit up.

    Slowly limped home 1/4 mile or so at a time. Will have to tow to a shop.


    Wife’s 4Runner is at dealer. So moms on the way over to bring me to borrow my dads car.


    Thinking I need a more reliable rig for dd. Everytime I think I got this thing set another piece goes.


    Mini van or madza 3 hatch....hmm

    Your first gen should be alright as long as it didnt over heat. The 1st gens are super reliable, just need to be kept up with

    It did over heat and I’ve spent a lot of money replacing everything and doing all the recommended work since I got it. Getting frustrating

    No to the thermostat. did all new belts for everything when initially got it,not sure if that would take care of that.

    maybe just need a new radiator or gave a leak.

    Well timing belt runs the water pump and the thermostat and down there as well. Kit and tstat from rockauto is around $200 for the Aisin kit (OE manufacturer)

    I did the pump when they did the timing belts. The thermostat is the only wild card I think. I have to check the coolant levels too, I could have sprung a leak and need a new radiator.

    Any other things you think I should check?

    You mentioned it wasnt an issue unless it really over heated...well what if it did :eek:

    Appreciate your help here.

    Had a 2018 I kept crashing around the property and was getting expensive to fix. Went to a 2003.


    Coolant is MIA, so I have a leak there or the radiator? New hoses this year too top and bottom.

    Hoses, rad, coolant bypass tubes, check your oil for mixing (will look like peanut butter in color), and not that I've heard of over heating from this one but check your ATF as well and see if it looks like a pink milkshake. Whatever color coolant you had if it was leaking previously you'll want to look for dried area, it will be white/whatever color coolant either spots or crud build up
