So I spent the evening doing a bunch of math and such and think I am close to recreating the stock alternator ECU settings increased for an AGM battery but still following their fluctuations based on duty cycle so folks won't burn anything out. Right now it sits at about 14.55v at about 1500 rpm. I will continue to tweak it a bit after some road testing tomorrow until I get it perfect and then will post the full settings.

Did 2018 04A61 files ever come available? I haven’t seen anything about 2018’s

My issue with this theory, my truck did not do this in 1.05 but started in 2.0

No difference between 2.0 reg, premium, or sfob variants.

1.05 did not have this lunging problem.

2 things changed between 1.05 and 2.0 that i think caused it.

Changes to Dfco and the single torque map.

Funny though when comparing the primary throttle table from stock to ovtune , he did not modify that table.

There are 2.0 VFT formats available, but not the super duper premium excelsior final final Final 2.0, so no gearlock and other fancy stuff.

Has anyone ever tried to use cruise control with a gear lock tune? What were the results??

The Air Load Control was not modified from Stock either.

If you look at my Primary Throttle map edit, which I am not using at the moment, I did go back and smooth the first four columns to ease the tip in. That did not cause the lunging though. I only experienced that after editing the 2.0 tunes. Never before.

I can see why it happened to me looking between my V1 and V2 Air Load Control maps. V2 is working very well right now. The little kick of torque at about 1,500 at moderate throttle is gone, tip in feels spot on, and the tune feels smoother overall.

My opinion on the Primary Throttle is that, since OVT noted 87.5% is the max possible value, the negative values just add range to the total values. Approximately 100% total to work with. Making those reflect the throttle percentage directly just makes the range tighter. Basically, it was a Pedal Commander set too high. Esp when combined with the base throttle percentage that you were seeing. In normal driving, I typically use between 14% and 30%-ish with tip in in the low 20s. Sharpening that is not a benefit to me. I do intend to try a different edit there after I see what the transition is to 87 on this current tune.

Yes. 04A61 Base Full is available as a Tune Pack. You just need to request it from OVT.

I wonder if that it what caused my hard shift. "I found the 6300 RPM fuel cutoff at around 75 mph in 3rd gear. I've bumped the 80%+ values in the 3-4 upshift down below 100 to see if that makes the shift happen before 6300." I really need an answer as to why that was happening. @BlazinBlue experienced it on a Non user adjusted tune, and @TWTaco and I both had it happen on one of my tunes. The upper values for 3-4 upshift we're well over 100. 108-113 I thought. Even if it "shouldn't really hurt anything" it was cringe worthy to experience.

All have been regular. You can certainly run premium with it. Shouldn't go the other way, hence why I've been doing Reg tunes.

I used it all the time gear lock with CC it will pull a lot of the smaller hills and slowly bog down and force you to downshift but it is way better then just CC. The best part is it allows you to choose when to down shift and one gear at a time not the 6th to 4th we are dealing with now!

Not sure if it would cause a hard shift, but it did surprise me at first. I was watching the tach so I knew about where I was at, but still lifted a bit and it made the shift. Likely dropped into the 52 range where I was well above the value. My new values are about +4 from the 2.0 originals:
    80: 90.149
    95.703+: 98.689

I think somewhere in this 280-page madness @OVTune mentioned that the 3.5 was good to a couple hundred more than 6300, but honestly, it kind of felt like it was running out of the powerband by then anyway.

Automatics as well? I realize it's the same engine, but can the trans handle those RPMs?

Hi guys. I've been reading all the posts for weeks now, and took the plunge to join in the fun. Needed to order a laptop too, so can't get started quite yet, but reading all the good things here and wondering what will directly apply to my truck. Can't wait to get the shifting sorted out! I have a 2020 Tacoma AT with a build date in April 2020, what is the likely ECM # i have?

(Going to tune my truck; feeling like a teenager again)

Transmission (AT) has no problem doing 7500 RPM.
I've personally revved to 7500 RPM on my AT IN BOOST.

@OVTune Can I get an example of the Airload changes that you provided in the 04B04 example in a 04B80 file?
Also clarification on the First Gear Throttle Limiter - Does it only affect first gear or all gears?
