Avoid the all in one. That is a saggy MFer.

 

It’s actually, ridiculously useful to have a router stuck under a table. I have a Bosch router hooked up to a lift on a kreg table. I use the table waaay more than a free router.
Now of course you need your free routers, but I wouldn’t be scared about having it “stuck” under a table, you will be ecstatic. At least I was

He wouldn’t want the $1400 router stuck under a table, though. A $250 one is different.

 

I meant the triton... but yes good point and thanks for pointing that out. I guess I should have been specific. I meant in general with a Router, it’s not “stuck” under the table, but actually really useful.

Ya. No. I would NOT put the festool plunge router under a router table. That would be definitely silly considering it’s a “more” specified router in the first place

 

My shop guys advise is to buy the grizzly 8” parallelogram jointer.

I’m meeting him tomorrow to talk about buying his Grizzly parallelogram 12” jointer, and his Grizzly 15” planer. He also has a friend selling a shaper with an auto feed.

 

Did they give a reason for that particular jointer? I'm considering an upgrade to mine.

 

He had a dovetail 8”, he eventually had to shim the top because the dovetail top began to wear out. The parallelogram top does not wear out like that. If you don’t adjust the depth very often, the dovetail style would probably be fine.

 

I never adjust the depth.

 

It takes up more space, but having an auto feed is nice, saves your fingers.

 

I would mostly use it for T&G, frame and panel doors, siding, and flooring.

 

My wife is going to divorce me if this all shows up at once.

 

Buy two of each so you can at least keep one.
