Pretty neat schedule revamp for next year. 1 Michigan race, Bristol dirt race, 2 Darlington dates, 2 Atlanta dates, COTA, Road America. IMS road course, Nashville Speedway. I'm on the fence about Bristol dirt. Just like, go to a dedicated dirt speedway like DuQuoin and put on an amazing show. I'm excited about two Atlanta and two Darlington dates. I'd much rather go to Darlington in early-May than the dog days of Summer. I'm honestly not excited about a mid-July Atlanta date, even if it's a night race. July is the wettest month in Georgia. If they're dead-set on two races in Georgia, please send one to Road Atlanta. They can put them on rain tires. That'd be a great show!

Interesting they left the Daytona road course off. That one seemed to be popular with the drivers and the fans.

I like Days of Thunder. I was in high school and got to help work security on the beach while they were filming in Daytona as a police explorer. Briefly met Don Simpson, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Tom and Nicole. Pretty cool day. I also like to compare the progression from then to now. The stands at Daytona and Bristol were tiny, no speed limit on pit road, etc.

I was a sucker for Six Pack when I was younger because Diane Lane...

Six Pack is my kid's favorite. Outside of Kenny Rogers' performance, it's a good movie with stellar actors. ANd Diane Lane, no-kidding! Sixpack and Days of Thunder are certainly among my favorites along with Stroker Ace. I haven't seen Greased Lightning since I was a kid and it was a TBS edit. There's no telling what kind of language was in the theatrical version what with it being a Richard Pryor movie based on Wendell Scott's NASCAR experience. I've yet to see Last American Hero. Hard to think it'd be bad what with it being based on Junior Johnson and including Tom Wolfe and Jeff Bridges. I always liked Days of Thunder in spite of the (many and varied) inaccuracies. It's a great window into the sport when it was on the cusp of mainstream.

Yes, Stroker Ace! I really liked the old The Daytona 500 The Movie that they showed in the theater at Daytona USA.
The most comprehensive movie IMO is the Nascar Imax3d.

Lots of classic scenes and cameos in that one.

Fun Fact: Harry Gant gets wrecked by the main characters in both Stroker Ace and Days of Thunder.

When I told my kid about Road America he was all "DAD. WE HAVE TO GO." I kindly reminded him we live 950 miles away. Still, it's closer than COTA.

I'm already making a spreadsheet of the races I want to attend, the driving distance, and ticket prices. Really hope to hit Indy 500 and COTA F1 race.

Driver Averages for Talladega: (Active drivers over the last ten years, excluding rookies)

    Manufacturer:
    Ford-12
    Chevy-7
    Toyota-1

    Wins:
    Keselowski-4
    Logano-3
    Blaney-2
    Harvick-1
    Bowyer-1
    Kenseth-1
    Johnson-1
    Hamlin-1
    Stenhouse Jr-1
    Almirola-1
    Elliott-1

    Average Finish:
    Almirola 4.7
    Stenhouse 10.4
    Logano 10.5
    Hamlin 11.2
    Preece 12
    Kurt Busch 12.8
    Ty Dillon 13.2
    Newman 13.4
    Buescher 17.1
    Blaney 17.2

The fact Almirola has been out there for the better part of two decades and has such stellar numbers while only nabbing one win is baffling. For Keselowski to have the most wins and not even chart in the top ten average finishers shows it's all Checkers or Wreckers for him. Despite its reputation as a wildcard race, the odds seem to favor Ford and Penske in particular. Their drivers tend to run up front to stay out front to avoid trouble.
