I feel your pain. I waited all of my life (I’m 65
Now) to get a Toyota truck (my dad was a Ford Executive). Thought this would be the last truck I would have to purchase - now I don’t see owning it more than 3 years tops.
It’s only a matter of time before the resale value starts dropping due to Toyota’s apathetic response

My dealership has cars that have been sitting in the back of their lot for 4 months waiting on the fix.

I was at the dealership yesterday, renewing my loaner (my truck's pump failed in July) and my service tech said still no word from Toyota on the remedy. But my VIN's already in the queue, and once Toyota comes out with the remedy, the part will be ordered by VIN. There were ~6 other Tacoma's parked next to mine, I assume they were there with a pump issue as well. I'm happy I was able to get a loaner and not put miles on my truck, but nearly 3 months now and I am ready to have my truck back.

From what I read Denso used the wrong or a defective type of "drying solvent" on a certain run of the plastic impellers used in the fuel pumps which affected their longevity. Have not read anything claiming it was ethanol but who knows?

If my truck had to be stored at the dealership I would hope it would be kept in a secure place and would inspect it weekly. Might even cover it.

I have GPS on mine, I actually check on it from time to time. I did consider covering it there.

A friend of mine complained when he brought his 2020 in with a bad pump, and barely running. He got his truck back a couple days later with a new suspect pump. Of course he still in the que to get the new and improved pump.

I thought the recall didn’t cover the ‘20s?

I had mine in earlier this month for the 24 month maintenance, and they didn't tell me they had to hold onto it.

Hmm the things I could do with a Loaner Camry

It’s funny, I ride a 2015 Honda Grom (no, that’s not the funny part) and a few years ago Honda announced a recall for fuel pumps on that model based on VIN number. I’ve yet to receive a recall for mine, knowing my luck my truck and my bike will both be recalled at the same time

I don't know. I just know he has a 20 and the fuel pump took a dump.

I actually got a Camry as a loaner, I asked Enterprise for a Toyota at least.

Mines on the recall list, probably just get it replaced once it actually fails. So far so good after 155k :fingerscrossed:

Don't blame you, I got rid of my 3rd gen as well due to the fuel pump issues among the numerous other problems I had with the truck. I feel Toyota has started to slip on their quality, but I still prefer Toyota over any other car manufacturer. I have a 2nd Gen Tacoma and my wife has a RAV4 which we have had zero issues with.

I also spoke with Toyota customer care yesterday - my truck’s fuel pump started failing around the end of July (2019 sr5 4x4), and I dropped it off at the dealership in early August. I’ve been in a loaner truck for nearly 2 months. I hate making payments on something I can’t drive

I was just thinking about this driving my truck to the shop this morning. Hopefully there's a fix soon.

Just got off the phone with the Toyota Customer Experience Center. New date for Tacoma's is October.
