Deer down!! Please give your insight on GEICO insurance claim

time for an ARB?

 

I bet the deer has Hartford insurance.

 

Push the insurance co for OEM parts, if that doesn’t work tell the body shop to put on OEM parts and pay the difference, not going to be much more. If your not going to keep the truck long put aftermarket and call it a day.

 

My kid works for Geico. You're going to get the cheapest parts available.

yeah, unless your Toyota has a on site collision center that's not true...

 

If you go "Through" the dealer - it's repaired "through" them ...

 

Most Aftermarket parts can be good if they are " Capa Certified " that means they are guaranteed to fit or the replacement OEM can then be used...

 

Geico is the worst. The last time I was re ended it was Geico (person that hit me insurance). First for you question they will default to Aftermarket, 2nd they refused to give me a rental which they HAVE to do in my state.

If anyone here had good experiencing with them, great Im honestly glade. I will NEVER use them.

I will say the adjuster himself/ herself that inspected my truck was fair. Company themselves NEVER AGAIN.

Couple of thoughts. It's in your insurance contract if they will give you oem parts or not. Also if I have full coverage insurance I always go to the dealership remember it's your insurance and you have the right to go to what ever place you want to fix it. Fortunately I have insurance company that puts all oem parts.

 

I rather talk trucks than insurance. I wonder if a new Ford Ranger or Bronco with their bumper design would handle a deer strike better than a 3rd gen Tacoma?

I really don't know and who would conduct such a test? I think the 3rd gen would be cheaper to repair than either of the Ford products.

 

ask your insurance if they will let u get a full metal bumper replacement .Some insurance company's will let u do that and u just pay the difference if there is any .

 

Years ago my sister got hit by somebody who had Geico. She had a Ford Taurus and they would NOT cover a replacement hood. Just filler on the existing hood and repaint. Never even considered them after that as I immediately realized they will cheap out and do sub standard repairs to save a buck. Good luck getting your truck back together.

 

Insurance companies make billions of dollars in profits each year and it’s in their best interest to get the repairs done as cheaply as possible. In Oregon we have a law that says we can have our vehicles repaired by whoever we wish. We have a few repair shops that advertise that they only use OEM parts while other shops make back room deals with insurance companies and use aftermarket parts or used parts. It’s up to the consumer to be educated on how their vehicle is repaired and most don’t know even to ask or blindly trust their insurance agent.

 

Take the insurance check once they write it ($1,500-2,500 it looks like) and buy a full metal offroad bumper from either C4 CBI or Camburg. If you get a bumper from anyone else people will know you eat at Applebees and have zero taste.

Do not invest in another stock trash ass plastic kiddie bumper intended to spare pedestrians lives (that deer probably walked it off)

Do not get one of the SOS slime or hybrid low profile bumpers because this makes you look weak and indecisive in life.

Time for a metal bumper, that would be non-oem.

Hit a deer last month that cost just north of $12k in damages/labor. Insurer (USAA) initially lowballed the estimate @ $5k which I knew they would as they assume non-oem parts but I've got a good body shop that was persistent with the adjuster and they finally settled and repaired it, tho with a slight upgrade to the front bumper.
