New hitch shackle from Amazon came in today. Great reviews and seems pretty solid...pretty inexpensive upgrade.

My brother gave me that one. Locks with a key similar to our tailgates. Seems pretty good. It would actually be nice if the hitch pin and tailgate were the same key now that I think about it.

Installed a Bakflip MX4. Tomorrow I’ll install seals to weatherproof the tailgate.

Today, I took the Taco over to Big O Tires and had them install some helper springs. These are adjustable for 500 lbs, 1000 lbs or 1500 lbs. I had them set for 1000 lbs thinking that would be about right for towing my trailer and still be able to throw some gear, such as generator, in the truck bed without worrying about the weight or handling. Between the E2 WDH and the helper springs, my truck should ride pretty nice when pulling the trailer. I was concerned it might make the ride too stiff when bed is empty and not towing but I hardly noticed a difference driving home.
