Well the shaking in the 4Runner is weird. Pretty sure it's going to need front wheel bearings too as well as axles. It will drive smooth, then maybe you hit a bump or make a turn and it starts shaking. When it shakes, it starts pulling hard to the left. Then it may or may not smooth out with speed. Last night driving home, I had to brake hard. Then when accelerating again, it started shaking bad! I pulled over and looked underneath. There was smoke coming from the driver's front wheel. When I got back on the road, it was smooth again. I nursed it to work this morning driving it slow and steady. We'll get it on the lift today and find out what's wrong. It's kind of disheartening but any old car you buy is bound to have issues. And at least I know that whatever's wrong with have all new parts replaced by a competent mechanic (not me).

After I hit a deer a replaced UCAs, LCAs, wheel bearings, coilovers, cv axles, rotors and pads, and changed diff and tcase fluids. It sucked and was a lot of work, but now I know the front end should be good to go! I upgraded most parts for just a little more. I drive a lot and it is nice to have the peace of mind that it shouldn’t leave me stranded. I also keep spare U-joints, idler pulley, and serpentine belt in my truck. I need to replace my center bearing in my driveshaft and front drive shaft u-joints soon.

UCAs will be replaced when I get the Dobinsons. LCAs are a common wear item on the GX/4Runner V8. So it may need those too.

Im not looking forward to LCA’s. Mine are shockingly in great shape but being KDSS it’s OEM only, and they pricey.

Cut out the back of my hood scoop insert so some heat can escape when I’m at low speeds. You can see some of the supports if you look for them, but the mesh hides it good enough for me to be happy.
