I been in the market for a 3rd Gen new for some time now. Seen quite a few 2020 and 2021 models that i’ve liked. The problem is most dealerships are not willing to haggle since they are lacking inventory and what not. So is it best to bite the bullet now and pay a little more or can some of you folks see the car market returning back to normal soon?

Market probably wont come back to normal until mid 2021 and thats just a total shot in the dark guess. If you find a truck you like for a price your ok with then go for it. I just picked up a 2020 TRD Sport DCLB in Silver sky. Got roughly $4500 off with a decent list of accessories. I was originally like you and was trying to wait it out, but my first color choice was silver and as soon as I found out Toyota is no longer making Sports in Silver anymore in Canada I went on a frantic search to find one. Found the last one in Western Canada and somehow managed to get a good deal on it. It really depends on the market in your area, I saved almost 5k on my truck but I have to travel 1200 kms to go get it. Worth it in the end as the trip is only costing about $500

I don't think prices will be any lower next year. I would not pay a premium as some dealers are asking.

Depends how much the truck is worth to you. I had a 2017. Sold it. Got a stupid Subaru. Has loads of issues and the bills keep racking up. Getting rid of it. Paying the premium for a 2021 OR. But it’s worth it to me. Should have never left the Tacoma.

Buy if you want. No haggling is going to save money now. Maybe mid next year.

Grants Pass Toyota in Oregon has no haggle pricing. I think they are as fair as any dealer.

“No haggling is going to save money now” Could you elaborate on that sentence?

If you are referring to haggling, then you're dealing with the wrong people. Either email the fleet/corporate manager, or go through a Costco and you'll see 10% discount.

I can tell you my local dealer doesn't have any Tacoma's on the lot, One 2 wheel drive and One 4 wheel drive Tundra on the lot. The dealer 65 miles away has a couple Tacoma's. I am shopping for a Tundra as a second vehicle for myself but I am having issues with that. If you find what your looking for I wouldn't wait.

Meaning most dealers are getting list or close to it now for a Tacoma.
Listen, the absolute best deal I have ever heard of for a 3rd gen is around 10% off list and that was a few years ago. Toyota never gives "$10K off" like Ford, GM or Dodge.
What you can do though is get some "free" accessories like mats, bed mat etc thrown into the deal. Toyota trucks usually cost close to list price. Invoice price is less than 10% below list too usually.

See if any dealers in your area are doing Costco pricing. It is a pretty good deal...

This^^^ Pay what you're comfortable with and try to get some freebies and a good deal on your trade in (if you have one). I don't see prices getting any better in the near future and they just don't deal much on Tacos.

Hopefully you aren't regretting going to a 21 from a 17 based on some of the things people have said about the 20's

I sold my 2020 a month or so ago and just bought a 2021 4Runner. It seems to me the market right now is as close to "normal" as it's going to get for a while- inventory is replenishing and COVID restrictions haven't come back in full force (yet).

Soon, as in a year or two, yes. Production has to go back to normal, not just in the US but including foreign suppliers. That requires a widely available effective vaccine.
