I have been going back and forth trying to decide how I want to black out my front valance. Regular spray paint is just going to chip over time, Plasti-Dip will also have to be touched up, and I just don't think I have the patience to apply the vinyl.

I have seen where at least one other person had this done and was wondering if anyone else out there have? How does it hold up, I would think pretty well. Does the texture look bad? Is there any adverse effect to doing this to the plastic bodywork?

I had been leaning that way and just can't bring myself to spray the truck myself... I don't mind spending a little more to have it professionally done and have something I should hopefully not have to worry about coming off or continually touching up.

My other reasoning is that I may also have my silver skid plate done as well and thought it would match up pretty well.

My hats off to you guys that have the balls to do your own "painting".;)

I sanded mine down, applied adhesion promoter, a couple of coats of textured spray paint, couple of coats of black spray paint, a couple of coats of flat clear coat, and Let it cure for a couple of days. Had it for almost one year and holding up really good.

The local Line-X shop quoted me $125. $50 material and $75 labor. Mostly due to masking/taping everything off and covering the truck making sure no over spray gets anywhere else on the truck since it comes out at such high pressure. I think he told me like 20,000psi.

I used the rustoleum brand spray on bedliner on mine and it turned out fine. I scuffed the area down with a scuff pad, taped it off and sprayed it with 3 coats. Ended up costing me about $12.

Sockmonkey's vinyl FTW, it didn't take too long and saved $$ compared to a shop painting it.
