That by no means is a peasant setup! I just have a friend that swears by the hydra hubs and he has them on all of his bikes but he likes the whole 305s wheelset too. He’s a bit of a nutcase so I’m just trying to get a regular person’s point of view.

We’ve had blue skies for a bit, that smoke is coming in hot. On fire at sunset.

I'm liking the hunt wheels more and more with each ride. I'll get my first real big ride on them this weekend down in moab.

Mine are the newer enduro s that have hydras. I can sympathize with your friends preference with that hub, they’re amazballs.

The Spur got some love today. Upsized to a 180mm rotor in the rear, as well as the 54T upgrade for the DT hub.

New Troy looks awesome. Really like a mini-enduro sled. Great numbers, great looking, great builds. Curious on its ride, but assuming it rides like a longer travel Django, which would make it a killer bike for 90% of people. DD tires, geo is perfect for that type of bike, wider seat post, double row bearings, great frame design.
Looks like they realized that the Django needed a burlier build, and finally specced some serious componentry as such. Crazy good build there, and actually surprised that they threw on a full 36 with 150mm on there, without adding any additional rear travel. THB, I reverted from 150 back to 140 because I thought it felt a bit out of balance. Having that big fork on the front lets you get into the type of terrain I don't think the rear can back up at 120, even will all that progressivity. I am really interested in that new DPX2, as they usually have a spot-on tune from the factory, and the DPS simply can't keep up with the bike at times. Gets super hot and starts losing performance.
One thing I was surprised about was the Spartan. I thought a whole new bike would be here by now, but just a new color (which is beautiful) and builds. Though I have to say, the new Spartan build is perfect. They even threw on DoubleDown tires, which is extremely rare from a factory build. With the Django and Troy done, the Spartan is next to be overhauled. Hoping they don't change too much, maybe just the reach honestly, as the rest is damn near perfect.

Unfortunately, Devinci does a shit job marketing to people and this bike will likely not receive the accolades it will deserve, like most of their other bikes. It's unfortunate, really, as I've had nothing but great experiences on all of their bikes. I think the only one I didn't really jive with was the last gen Troy, but the new one fixed all the issues I had with it. Stoked to give one a demo.

You can always call Jenson/WWC for a price match. I understand not wanting to use BC.

In other news a new Stumjumper is about to launch so im anxious to see how that turns out.

They were suing the crap out of a lot of tiny companies last year that used the term backcountry anywhere in their name or products. Backcountry is huge and they basically threatened to bury these people in litigation so many tiny companies had to just roll over and take it. They got "exposed" for this and did lots of backpedaling, etc. but it seemed half ass to me. Yes this stuff happens in the business world and thats fine but I think their behavior was extreme.

This may fall through because they don't have the size I need in stock at Jenson.

The damage was already done too. One of my clients lost a lot of money over that shit.

    Screw backcountry.

So basically a product could be like, “never find yourself stuck in the back country without this by your side.” They’d be sued?

I think it was more for titles of businesses or products these companies produce. Backcountry is such a broad term. Could you imagine if other companies had the nuts to sue people if they used other similar nouns like "mountain" or "river?" Backcountry's excuse of "oh we hired this law firm to represent us and they just started going after all of these companies" is complete bullsh#t and an insult to their customer's intelligence.

I have been doing a ton of research on that wheelset, everything I have found says they are awesome. And that the hydras are top notch.

Yea my buddy is crazy about them but like I said he's crazy. He took a hacksaw to a Yeti SB4.5 frame to "modify" it. o_O

The guy who owns WorldwideCyclery has had some awesome things to say about them on youtube and that they are his go-to wheeelset. That speaks volumes to me because that guy can get whatever he wants for pennies on the dollar and he is also a bike part connoisseur.
