The input shafts on Tcase and manual transmission are in oil bath but the output shafts bearings rely on lubrication from moving input shafts.

What I’m saying tho is the transmission is not affected while the t case is in neutral, the output shaft bearing of the trans is not even spinning. The tcase output would be lubed tho because the chain is spraying oil?

Ive always wondered why, with a 4X4 1st gen, you cant remove the rear driveshaft for flat towing and when you want to drive, just put it in 4X4 mode so it's propelled by the front tires only.

also not only class A motorhomes can tow large loads. i got a class C with the Ford V10 in it and it can tow 10K pounds. My Double cab Tacoma is 1/2 that.

I don't know about the towing part, but I've known people that have removed their rear driveshafts and driven around with 4hi engaged so they're effectively in FWD. Nothing wrong with doing that, just can't go too crazy driving around since the front drivetrain isn't as robust as the rear of course. but it shouldn't hurt anything.

But flat towing that way, I'm not sure to be honest

If I were towing my 1st gen that has a rebuilt rearend I'm not gonna wear out its fresh bearings. That RV better have enough torque and breaking power before I even think about flat towing. I ain't here to be cocky about what I know or don't know. These 1st gens aren't around much longer so I'm not gonna risk further damage.

I briefly touched on the auto trans in post #19.
Yes auto trans needs fluid pumping for long hauls.
