    custom bumper, 2 inch lift, header, custom intake, custom flared fenders
    So being in my current state of big dreams and no budget i can only ask questions and plan. You have mentioned that the tacoma unit bearing will be the weak point on a fabbed spindle, would a full floating dana 60 hub/spindle set up work or are you running into bolt pattern issues? I have also noticed you mention Dana 44 hubs and spindles. what is the strongest set up of the three provided your already headed down the path of a fabricated spindle?

    How much more travel does it have over the 2.25? I may be interested. Keep going back and forth about keeping parts more or so bolt or not.

    I still don't see why people want to do a 63 swap. Sure, the leafs are cheap but I can't imagine them being very progressive without substantial effort and its a lot of labor for the conversion. I can possibly see it on a 1st gen but not a 2nd/3rd.

    I would say they are a great compromise for a lot of us who don't live near a desert. They flex really well, almost double the stock travel numbers, maintain clearance under the axle, are easy to find, and ride very nicely compared to any oem length tacoma leaf spring I've tried, especially for the price.

    I would prefer Sua, but it just doesn't really make sense for where I live, personally.

    That's the thing though. You can achieve most of those requirements with a set of Dakars for $300-$400 and a shock relocation with a 2.0 smooth body and cycle a little over 12". I can't comment on ride quality between the two but I'm not horribly unhappy with my Dakars and didn't sacrifice what little bump travel these trucks have.

    I'll be the first to admit that I haven't done a 63 swap on a Tacoma but from my understanding you're sacrificing bump travel for droop, similar to a shackle flip which I'm also not a fan of. It's all application based. Just curious to hear thoughts.

    You can get a decent bit more overall travel with a 63 spring. You can have a 14” shock and actually utilize all of it. Some 63 springs and the various premade brackets (if you don’t want to fab then yourself) is like $500, which is cheaper than just the Dakar’s. Plus then you’ll need some new rear hanger with those.


    All that said, is the effort worth it? Not imo with a stock length front end, but it is a very viable option.

    Dakars and 12" kings will outrun the stock front end, even with aftermarket UCA/LCA.

    I agree if we're talking stock length arms. But, a lil extra droop never hurt anyone. I personally won't deal with a 63 swap but I still understand why it's popular.

    Are 3.0s not stiff on a tacoma? Idk anything about shocks but AccuTune advised against it when I asked them.

    But then again shock opinions are like a$$h0les, every one has one and it’s nothing like the other.
