2020 Easter Egg: Has built in remote start...not detailed in owners manual

Makes sense, but you think they could have a lock out switch if it wasnt in neutral.

 

If someone if trying to steal your truck........kind of stops the thief.

Thank you for this!!! I’m all smiles right now 2020 OR with premium sound and I really doubted it would work for me, but lo and behold there it is.

 

Shutting off when you step on the brake to put it in gear I understand.

Shutting off when you open the door I don't.

 

That's what makes this confusing....for the most part, I'm gathering you need premium pkgs, but you have premium and can't get it work

 

Good to know. Same as mine, and I can't get it to work. Did you have to activate anything or is there a trick I'm missing?

 

Anyone else have success on a Pre-2020 model (with tech pack)?

 

Mine didn't work initially either, I had to set up the remote connect. Can now RS from app or fob. Curious when connect subscription runs out if it will still work on the FOB.

 

There was a sticker next to the SOS button saying Toyota is tracking everything you do. I immediately pushed the button and opted out. I suspect anyone having issues did the same.

 

Just tried it on my 2020 Limited I just got today. Yes you have to lock the doors and wait a minute. 2 locks and hold the third. After about 3-4 seconds outside lights flashed and the truck started. Turned it off by holding down the lock button for a couple of seconds! Cool!

 

Tried it with mine. No work. The salesman at the dealership (also a friend of a friend) said that when you hold it down the third time, if it has auto start the taillights blink 3 times then starts but if it's not capable of remote starts the tailights blinks 7-8 times instead.

 

My 2019 TRD OR does this. Discovered by accident as I am used to triple locking the doors on my 4Runner and FJ. It is not supposed to...or so I have read.

Toyota says all 2020(and up?) models with push button start have factory remote start. The step where you hold down the button does take longer than you would think.

 

Can you tell me where you read or heard this from Toyota? That's the bottom line I'm trying to get to so if I take it to the dealer and say this should be working, I can show them where it says it should be working. I have tried several combinations of button pushing and timing. Thank you.

 

Sorry, not push button start only it seems. As long as you have remote connect and AT, according to Toyota Canada (should still apply to the US).

Mine was randomly not working, and then one day it just stopped working. Via the app and the Keyfob. The app just says the truck doesn't meet the requirements. However it does.
