It has about 150km’s, 100k miles.

Seller says it has a squeaky belt and ac needs recharging. Wondering if the belt could be related to the ac?

As for frame rust, which sections need to be looked at closely?

Seems like a clean little truck in the pics but would like to have suggestions for issues that may be common for this model.

Helping a friend who wants to buy one, he has owned an 01 4 cylinder up to now.
    Thanks for any help.

My 08 4 banger has 140k miles. Never had an issue accept u joints going out from the first couple owners probably not greasing them. My belt started squeaking at 135k a couple months ago and I don't think it had ever been replaced. Changed er out in about 10 mins and it's nice and quiet now. If it has any small cracks in the belt, that's a good indicator that it's probably time to change. They stretch over time and start squeaking. The idler pulley has a couple notches that will also indicate if it's out of spec.

My experience with ac compressors is that if they need "recharged" on a 10 year old vehicle, especially a Toyota, the compressor is probably shot and you need a new one. Sometimes people just don't use em much and they go bad. You could try and recharge it but tell your buddy to go in expecting to replace it.

For rust, your biggest area is probably gonna be in the lower part of the c channel of the frame right behind where the front of the leaf springs attach. That's where mine was and a dealer caught it when I went in for an oil change and I got a new frame for free! If I would have waited 3 more months, it would have been too late for me. Not sure on other areas my old frame had a lot of surface rust. Other members might know where to look.

No real complaints on mine. It's slow, 5 speed is kinda notchy, just some quirks.
All in all my lil trucks been very reliable. Starts every time and gets me where I'm going.

If there's a leak in the A.C. evaporator, it's located behind the dash and will require the disassembly of the entire dash, according to what I've seen here. The 1st gens are way easier to replace these. I did one last year on our 03 Tacoma. So that could be a pricey repair IF it's the evap. If you post pictures of the frame then others would be able to chime in on their thoughts of the rust.
If it looks good, check it out, drive it and see if it's worth the cost.

The truck was mint, rust proofed, and very well maintained. It had been checked for a frame recall by Toyota and new rear leafs. My friend bought it as is without the ac working. Hard to find them with low miles and not rusty or well maintained.
    Thanks for the help.

Thanks, nice used low mileage tacos are hard to find everywhere? And you need to be in the right place at the right time. Mine was 8 years old, rustproofed from new, original tires and original paint, I got real lucky.
