So, it's almost Friday and my curiosity has gotten the best of me. What say you TW, do u pull in, back in or play it by ear? I always back in unless it's an angled spot.

If it’s my driveway, I use my installed front camera to go head in. Other than that, always back in.

Back in always. Maybe you should get the shorter wheelbase ridgeline to back into the angled spots??

    Shots fired.

I like to back in when I can, but it depends on the situation.

Back in. Always. But I have a huge camper on my Tacoma and viewing the spot first is always wise. That said when I drive my daily driver (RAV4 hybrid) I still always back in. Always have, always will.

Interestingly, some city ordinances actually have backing in as a misdemeanor.

<edit> But I often back in too.

    ??

I used to work for the city - we were required to back in because too many accidents were caused by people backing out.

I’m a DCLB - I back in whenever possible because I fit in spaces better that way.

I tend to pull in because my daily driver is a van and, sadly, it's become a habit.

It’s been a while....um, undergraduate school years in fact. But I got a ticket for backing in. Something about ‘not being the norm’ and causing a traffic hazard while parking. It wasn’t about the pulling out part, but the parking part.

Back in. Always. It’s easier to back in while parking then to back out when leaving.

I never back in unless I have to load something. I keep the rear end out because damage to the rear of a vehicle is usually easier to deal with when some ass inevitably hits my parked truck. Parking lots get alot smaller in the winter around here so its become habit. I've never had a problem backing out of parking spots, and reverse lights alert other attentive drivers the vehicle is about to start moving.

Did you park sideways? That’s a stupid reason for a ticket.

Did they need to make a ticket quota and we’re making up shit as they went?

Sometimes it has to do with what you’re backing in against, I think. If you’re backed up somewhere where you might overhang a sidewalk, that’s a no-no. Same with backing in where the tailpipe of an idling vehicle would be close to an air intake or business entrance. But I don’t know if it’s actually illegal.

Other times I think it’s because you would technically have to go against traffic to get backed in.
