I was working on my buddies Silverado the other day with him. Those front ends are like 1" from full droop at the factory height. Almost useless, without a taller spindle and a small drop bracket they have no travel.

Yeah there's so many cool vehicles parked in random sheds in west tx. I know a guy with a 40's willys wagon out there, someday he wants to restore it, after all his other projects (he has so many projects...)

No one wants the AAM axles dodge uses now. I think the Fords are okay if you dont mind their dumb hubs.

Yeah, they're trash. I get it, it's a full-size meant for hauling garbage and fat people, not for wheeling. But only 1" of droop from neutral is insane, it's so harsh.

They must be cheap to build or something. Its such a mediocre design from a technical standpoint.

KP ford fronts through the 90s are still desirable for strength but not for availability or turning radius.

The super duty fronts from 05 and up are pretty damn popular because they are 35 spline factory and cheap and easy to come by. The unit bearings are a bit of a bummer but there are plenty of options for redrilled ones and they aren't that prone to failure anyways.

Back on the topic of how a lot of solid toyota axles are already bent. Finally makes sense why there are two (rock assault and diamond?) aftermarket housings for them. People want to stay Toyota and I guess someone saw a market for it.

Ball joints since 92. Never heard on anyone breaking one. Just bitching about how they're weaker.

And the axles have a better turn radius :notsure: :homer:

Sounds about right. I wonder how much 'common knowledge' of this stuff is mostly wrong or completely wrong. Its not like most people have the ability to really test this stuff...

Yeah I don't hear anything about them failing. Just that they get sloppy regularly if you don't buy quality ones.

Those ones can explode pretty good though. At least full sizes aren't shedding knuckles

That's true, they fail very catastrophically compared to damn near anything else.
