called up Deaver today to chat a bit about leaf packs. He said we can take care of it but still was like wow thats a lot of weight. This can't be the first time this has come up. I am just hesitant that getting an 1800 over stock for the rear is going to be too much.

At that point other things start to become a concern, brakes, frame, tires, composite bed

Have you done a look at where your weight is coming from to see if there are places to slim down?

For sure, I have been pondering where I can save space. It's likely all of the steel, that is all I can really think of. I did add a full swing out bumper with a spare (315) which is not doing me any favors but plenty of folks are rocking that. Others with wedge setups are sitting closer to 6500. Still way damn high.

BAMF skids are at least 100lbs over other brands. full steel bumper (pelfrey) surprisingly is lighter than some others i looked at. I do have a regular shell but that should be lighter than the superpac camper. Added fuel at full weight and I have DYI drawer setup but its not heavy.

Other stuff I have considered and already upgraded. Brakes running wilwood 6 piston aero6, running E rates tires. Hammer hangar and cross brace is pending install. I need to catch up and get a brace for my shock towers and eventually and gusseting the frame in the bed but Most of the weight is likely frame not bed at the moment.

Weight was 7k with me and my son with mostly full fuel and extra fuel, water to make sure that was considered. I plan to strip the shell get it weighed then do another with no skids or vice versa to see how much it really adds. Tire def adds weight but diff of spare to that maybe 80lbs. I can account for maybe 1300 not 1800.

But either way all that adds up. I also have some sound deadening which prob adds 100+ but it has to be the steel but I prefer not to have aluminum as its more then a light duty vehicle. Too bad these BAMF skids take a beating.

My truck is currently under weight, need about 315lbs on the back soon...

Anyone heard any news from SP other than their instagram stories? I feel like a few more should be in the wild by now

Yup. I agree. I'd like to see some more out there or an update from SP about how the production is going.

Nothing as far as I know. I would hope that silence means they are more in production mode more than anything. with the launch pricing over sales likely have slowed so time to catch up. I beleive they were between 50-60 setups ordered and most likely camper setups. It was nice to see more than one frame started. I would think they are getting a batch of frames ready then assemble a bunch. As they start to complete and do installs that is going to take up some resourcing as well.

I just asked about an update on production, they said “production has started, we are working through the list and scheduling”

I still haven’t seen an actual invoice though...

Its all speculation but if I had to guess they’re just starting production. They showed pics of the fuselage parts laying on the floor and that’s it. No ones posted pics of theirs so I’d guess they’re just starting.

I've been looking for a canopy/tent unit for some time, so thanks so much for this thread - its been very informative and helpful. The problem I've found with other companies, like others have mentioned, is the additional cost for the upgrades and the lead time. After reading through this thread, I've decided to pull the trigger on the X1. I have a topper now and have never owned any other sleeping platforms, so I'm super excited about this.

I sent an email requesting info on purchasing yesterday, got a reply from Spencer the same day, and received an email from Ms. Curtis this morning with the customer acknowledgement form.

I put the deposit down last week as well. Can't wait! A road trip to Portland around year-end should coincide nicely with my job ending late December.

Currently in the rabbit hole of what sort of build I want to do. I have the added complication of typically bringing a moto and mountain bike on trips. MTB is no problem, but my current moto hitch rack doesn't allow the tailgate down so I am looking at options for that.
