I am not an expert but I enjoy the thought exercise.

Not having a manifold air pressure makes it tricky. Most maps are based on engine load so we need to make sure we calc load correctly. Maf reading + throttle angle + magic = expected load?

-We will prob need to rescale airflow maps. (I believe this feature is coming.)

-Retard ignition timing. This map seems to be based on engine load. But maybe adjusting ignition timing based on fuel increase to allow addition retarding with respect to boost? Maybe a bad idea and not quick enough?

-Eliminate port injection specially under boost. (Fuel injector split % map)

-Retard DI injection timing (Base injection crank timing map but also would also need to adjust this with respect to load or air flow.

If a pro user can create maps/patches maf vs timing might be better than trying to work off load.

Also I don’t know what valve timing adjustments (no access currently), pump pressure controls, duty cycles etc. would be needed.

Then who knows about the transmission adjustments for drivability would be needed.

    Who’s feeling brave!

    Why eliminate port? Detonation risk?

Yes. With this compression ration and boost (even moderate amounts) detonation is going to be an issue. Thankfully Toyota provided DI so we can work around this.

Could be why Mat moved away from his SC adventure (aside from competition pricing and a few other shortcomings) and took up the twin snails. ??someone (5 to be exact) got his SC and the tune to run with it so he must have found a solution to some of the noted "rocks in the road."

All these parameters would have to adjusted/controlled for any FI doesn’t matter if it’s centrifugal, TVS, or turbos.

How much and how to adjust idk.

Maybe use Mat's tune from base turbos as a starting point to tune for the Magnuson SC...

I'm not going to speculate if he's willing to share that tune to people who haven't bought his turbos though.

@Jowett make sure you install the boost gauge fitting before the SC goes on and that you use a 90* fitting. There is ZERO space to thread in the NPT fitting with the SC installed. Took me about an hour just to figure a way to get a wrench on the plug that they installed at the factory

Theres a special place in hell for whoever designed that location

Y’all are funny. You pay 7k for a supercharger. Might as well complain to magnuson to get the tune right. They’re the one with engineers getting paid to work.

3 words that helped me palate shity end user engineering is, "ease of manufacturing". Yeah it still sucks, but it makes the pill easier to swallow understanding where they’re coming from.

Engineers tend to go about it from a different mind set. Not necessary keeping the end user’s ease of installation the top priority lol.
    What gauge are you using?

I just finished the install process tonight. I just have to go buy some coolant tomorrow as I didn’t have enough on hand. It took me 2hrs yesterday and 5.5 hours today for full install. By the time I flash the tune and check for leaks it will be a 8.5hr project. I could have easily knocked it out in one Saturday.

The kit is absolutely fantastic. The engineering and time that went into it is evident.

I’ll report back when I fire it up tomorrow after work.

What’s the max pressure that is reached and at what rpm? I have yet to see this data posted or mentioned.

    Hahahaha.

Good luck getting tunes and troubleshooting from them.

Any form of FI + HP Tuners will always be my suggestion to anyone looking to hop into the world of Forced Induction.

As of right now I do understand HP Tuners support for 3rd gens may be limited, but they'll make it out to you guys just like they did us 2nd gens.

Our TT tune has custom code in it we wrote and designed specifically for our TT.

If you bought the magnuson kit you have flash license, upgrade to vF Tuner and make a tune for it. You have access to all the tables you need.

If you're a previous customer of ours with a flash kit, then you have our tunes as a starting point.

Maybe hop in the vF Tuner thread and ask questions, ask for assistance.

@OVTune for someone that has absolutely no experience tuning is it doable to use VF tuner to make a custom tune for a Mag Kit?

I got the Innovate psb-1 combo afr and boost. Dont have a wideband hooked up yet though.

Just going to use a craven speed pod for now till @MESO releases one of his stealthy mounts

Pretty sure that my gauge is messed up. It doesn't show any boost under any conditions lol
