Took me a min to realize the bottom of the wing wasn't the ground.

Then again, it looks exactly like the landscape west of town here in SLC.

This was just south of Orlando, the elevation below was probably about 50' and no where near the terrain of SLC area.

Ah, I gotcha. One of these days I'm going to have a trip to SLC and I'll take the rental car out on the salt flats.

Do your homework before you do, there's only one strip on which you are allowed to drive. The rest is protected land and comes with a HEFTY fine. Especially cuz you'll almost certainly get stuck. The rule not the exception is you break the crust and it turns to a cement/peanut butter mixture. Local tow service with a snowcat is the only rescue you can get out there and he knows what his monopolized time is worth ($$$$$$$$).

On an aviation note, the Wendover Airfield is a great little historical museum,. Especially now that they finished renovating the Enola Gay hangar. Plus the Nicolas Cage Con Air C-123 is there. :D

See a big smile on your passengers face. Small planes are big fun! Even more so with big wheels, floats or skis. Probably putting the boards on the Champ this winter as my work schedule remains light due to the pandemic.

Yep! That was her first time flying it, and first time in a tailwheel in years! It’s a simple bird but it’s a lot of fun. Still need to get my ass out on floats someday!

That's great to hear they got that hangar done. I used to fly into there a lot at a previous job and I was able to see the renovations starting on the hangar. Have you ever made it out on the airfield to see one of the two remaining bomb loading pits for the B-29's?
