What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

After 4 cancelled orders because the part wasn't in stock or because they said it couldn't be shipped, I replaced the driver side seat belt, no more fraying!


Swapped passenger bottom seat cushion with driver bottom seat cushion, no more fraying! Wasn't that bad but figured why not swap before it gets worse.

 

Oh, and I thought I'd try the heat gun trick on the pink buttons on the seat belt buckle. Don't do that... Turns out the gray part of the buckle is much softer than the button and it started to melt

 

It originally just unbolted but when I boxed my frame I had to weld it back in place because the box plates block off the mounting holes for the tire carrier.

Anti seize on lugs nuts or no anti seize?
Just wanted to see what the pros think?

 

yea dont.. ive seen what can happen (it doesnt alot. but it CAN) wheels have come loose because of antiseize. it creates inaccurate torque readings when using a torque wrench.



plus lugs seizing is super rare, no real need since you rotate tires. now if the car was going to sit in a field for 10 years? yea probably then..

 

Got the new bearings and cvs in

 

Got a magnet phone mount installed,
Have to remove the rubber and trim it a little,

 

How does it stay in? Just curious

 

I ground down the edge so it pressed in, I removed the rubber parts and there are metal tabs ther.

I will get some double back tape and put it around the flat edges,

Works well holding the phone for now but definitely trimming it with the double back tape

 

I had that same style set up in my 99. On this truck I got this off Amazon. Been working well so far.

 

The magnet doesn't mess up the phone? I thought magnets damaged computer internals/memory cards, or maybe it's only at a certain strength

 

Nope. Only if you're using floppy disks or spinning hard drives. I bet the compass on the phone will read funny tho

 

This magnet is in the head unit on the dash. A metal sticky strip you put under the phone cover.

If you get the type where the magnet is on the phone side your cards will get wiped tho

 

Maybe a super magnet but not the phone type no

 

I might look into a way to screw it in from the back this weekend
