Yes. I had 3rd and 4th gen 4runners. Don't get me wrong, 4runners are amazing. I felt more confident off road in the newer Taco. Slam the brakes off road in a 3rd gen 4runner vs a 3rd gen Tacoma, huge difference.

The more rare 4runner I had was 99 Limited with factory e-locker. My favorite 4runner was 2005 V8 vvt-i. V8 4runner was a rocket ship. Same 4.7L V8 in the GX and Land Cruiser.

Sleeping? The body over frame design works great for it's intended purposes. Luckily for real enthusiasts it's still around. If someone wants a unibody construction SUV, Toyota has several models to choose from.

Are all real trucks supposed to ditch their full frames because it's "old as dirt."

Great vehicles - we owned a new LC back in the late 90's - LOVED it. We are considering a new LC for my wife's next vehicle - she gets a new vehicle every few years...she has been getting GMC high top conversion vans for years, but kids will all be off at college by next Aug.

My '88 Bronco with the 5.0 was like that....13 mpg no matter what. City, highway, freshly tuned or not, 13 mpg. But at least it was bulletproof. Rusty but reliable.

You don't get a Land Cruiser because you want a nicer ride and wider seats. The costs are too great unless you really need what a Land Cruiser has to offer. Get a 4runner for half the price - it's nearly as good. I've had several LC's and 4runners and all things being equal, a good 4R delivers 90% of the value at half the price. Especially the new ones, which are just great vehicles.

Nobody is saying unibody. The Tundra, Sequoia and 4Runner are in desperate need of an overhaul, they are dinosaurs compared to what’s out there. Especially the Tundra. All need major refreshes, and yes still on ladder frames.

Die hards will say “tried and true blah blah blah”. That’s another way of saying lazy and Toyota doing the least amount of work for their money.

If the Tundra wasn't so pig ugly I would have bought one. The Tacoma looks so good and the Tundra looks like it melted in the sun. Why they can't give it some kick butt styling is beyond me.
