I picked up some of the 4xinnovations from a guy used and man wheeling the are awesome. I'm going to get the rubber floor and ditch the carpet then I'll run them even when it's yuck outside. Pretty easy to swap them out and pretty quick. Shit that's still pretty short my buddy is stretching his sammi even more and is going to be sitting at 110. I'm at 140" WB you should try giving the limo a whirl it's pretty wild but those down hills and long steep uphills are super stable.

Been doing it ever since I started wheeling the truck and beating on it going on harder and harder trails and obstacles. It's been working so far.

He did both options: engine cage and kept is rad core. If you move everything from the fender liner/rad core over to the engine cage for mounting (battery, ABS module, fuse box, etc) that will take a huge amount of stress off the core and make it last longer. I'm not a roll cage expert, but i'm not sure I agree with his solution for the cowl bar...

However, the amount of frame flex in our trucks is absurd, and the fender liner/rad core is where it all gets focused because the main body of the cab is much stronger. So eventually its going to crack.

Even on the trail, why drive an ugly truck? Build it clean and looking right, even a tube buggy can be built clean.

Well I’m not a go fast desert guy, maybe a medium to hard wheeler I suppose. And just found this today. :angrygirl:

unfortunately I’m not a welder or fabricator... so I will try to find someone local to patch it up I guess. Hassle.

Its going to be an ongoing problem unfortunately. I plan on fabbing up a new front end at some point down the road.

Man, seeing what lengths you guys have gone through really makes me think the repair I did on mine isn't going to last until the end of my next wheeling weekend.

I had a six inch crack on the drivers side. It got welded with a plate welded over it. It has held up through the last few wheeling trips. I also had a small crack on the passenger side. It just got stitch welded. It cracked open again after a few wheeling trips. I’m not a welder so I can’t vouch for the work done.

But I think consensus is this problem just recurs if you wheel or tear ass around in the desert.

If you add a plate over it, at least it will add strength.

Yeah I'll do that when it happens again. I'm definitely not in the mindset to build an entire cage to reinforce that area. It also seems like a place where if you strengthen up the weakest spot too much, the weakness comes out in an even worse location.

Yeah even 1/8" plate covering a little more than the affected area already strengthens a ton. Redistributing load is kind of the yin to the reinforcement yang - I'm relocating my batteries and anything heavy like a compressor under the bed.

This will help a bunch. I have made it a point to not mount my locker compressor under the hood, even though it's a mini. For one more weight up front for 2 less clutter in the engine bay. Soon the battery will be relocated and mounted under the bed.
