tacoma magnaflow....

been thinking on putting a MagnaFlow muffler on my Tacoma just replacing OEM and putting it in its place... but keep reading about people having check engine light come on after a while...my buddy went ahead and ordered one and now he's having second thoughts and he wants to sell it to me cheap should I do it yes or no...

 

Muffler won't cause a check engine light, only cat deletes cause this. Go nuts!

 

yeah he wants to unload it new in the box $40 bucks can't go wrong on the price but I just want to make sure

 

question now is I know it's going to be slightly louder but is it going to drive me up the wall

 

Well, since you are already mentally disturbed, how much further up the wall are you aiming for?

 

enough to satisfy me but not enough to drive my girlfriend up the wall...lol

I had a magnaflow on my second gen Tacoma years ago with a turn down didn't bother me then but then again I was much younger. and played the radio much louder....lol

 

i kinda like playing around with that stuff, and I've gotten it wrong before. fortunately I'm happy with my config, although I'm redoing it later this year with a custom tuned Y and finally throwing on the catted ov dumps. and maybe it blows up in my face.

 

Magna flow here cut off at axle love it. No complaints here

 

what size did you go with my friend has an 18-in I wanted to get the 22-in but it's kind of a tight fit

 

For $40 take a shot. Highly recommend these pliers to deal with the hangers

 

I hear what you're saying I still got to go to a muffler shop and have it installed and welded so

 

I need to look more into what others have done. There were a couple other members who went balls deep in their exhaust, which is what I wanna do, but only after someone else is the guinea pig first haha.

 

You could clamp it yourself and if you like it then get it welded

Aftermarket exhaust for a v6 always a bad idea even worse if it’s a 4 cylinder . They all sound like shit .

You could install the muffler with band clamps and header wrap. This way you could swap out the muffler if you're not happy. I did this with my last 4runner and changed the muffler out later. Turns out a 14' Magnaflow on a 4.7 V8 is pretty obnoxious.

 

Typically: Magnaflow mufflers are slightly louder than stock with a little deeper exhaust note
