I have somewhat of a hard time believing that your fluid film washed off that easily. I've had to scrub my shit with degreaser in places to do work on it.

It didn't all completely wash off, but was definitely compromised. Didn't leave me with that warm fuzzy feeling protection wise. Whereas the test piece of metal with bar/chain oil that's been out in the elements for a while still looks like the day I applied it.

Did you see rust, or just most of the obvious goop washed off?

Everything I've fluid filmed has still been covered in a nasty fucking sheep smelling mess at the end of winter. But it looks normal so you touch it with bare hands and instantly regret your life choices. That said: bar oil is probably as good or better, if less environmentally friendly.

Only a couple spots are oily to the touch, others are back to being dry. Maybe I didn't apply enough... But on the other hand I'm a cheap bastard and the bar oil and kero mix was only $25 for the lot and I'll have oil left over for the chainsaw... Don't take this as knocking FF, I still bought a couple cans to do the rockers and other misc. items.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
It was in Loch Haven. First Quality purchased it and know it's a huge complex of tissue plants. I think the only thing left from Hammermill is the retention pond.

I put FF on like a 5 year old boy put syrup on waffles, typically 4 or 5 cans for the frame alone, that may be the difference.

I always get a kick out of this Project Farm guy's YouTube channel. I don't know what his occupation is, but it seems like his scientific method is pretty darn good with the ways he measures and compares products and uses objective means of doing so, rather than just opinion/speculation. Here's his take on rust products. I see you guys going back and forth on fluid film vs. bar/chain oil and they're both in this video with his findings and comparisons.

The only product I can think of worse to work with (both mess and smell) the Fluid Film is Cosmoline, so not surprising it did better.

Is anyone interested in doing some Laurel Highlands/Ohiopyle exploring on Sunday? @bliso249 are you free? They did a little meet last Saturday in the Pittsburgh Overlanding fb page last Saturday, but I work Saturdays. Maybe meet up at Helltown Brewing for a beer then go find some trails for a few hours I was thinking
