Interest rates are crazy low...We just refinanced at 2.2% on 15 years. When we bought our first house in 1984 we had an interest rate of 13%.

    Story time. :)

I've never shot anything past 300 yards except paper.
Occasionally, I've shot groundhogs that far.
Which is a long shot for something the size of a groundhog.
Unless you wanna get a hotrod Rem .22-250 with a fancy scope.

I did that with an old Savage bolt action .222 Rem that was left to me by my Dad.
In the 50s, it was a popular target shooting caliber for medium distance.
Sold it 5-6 years ago to a kid at the club.
That gun was exceptionally accurate and I doubt my new AR will be anywhere near that precise.

BTW, the .222 Rem Magnum was developed from the Rem .222.
Rem .223 was developed from and is very closely similar in ballistics to the .222 Magnum, minus the belt.
Remington had the military in mind when they created the .223.
They were part of the competition for the new small caliber in the early 50s.
Of course the military didn't accept it as-is, and hotted it up a bit.
    That's the 5.56 NATO.

I remember well one time on the farm when a veterinarian was there for some reason.
After he took care of business he and my Dad started talking rifles and my Dad showed him the Savage 54.
The vet asked him what's the effective range...oh 300 yards or so, said my Dad.
The vet said: do you think you can hit that groundhog on the hillside over there?

So my Dad rested the rifle on a fence post and shot the bastard.
It flopped around a bit then was still. Frangible 55 grain bullet. 4X fixed old style straight tube Weaver scope.
Fucking lucky shot, that was.
He said he held several feet over it and later paced the distance to 450 yards, more or less.

Dcsb like what I got. It's tan with 213k. The frame and body are clean, so I suspect it's already had the frame replacement done.
