I pushed every damn button on the thing -- none will silence it. The real shame of it is that the place I go has nice high quality outdoor speakers and plays good music -- not that you can hear it over the infernal racket that the pump makes endlessly...

I swear that the pumps equipped with the TV screens pump slower just to insure you get a full dose of "Gas Station TV".

Let me make your life a little easier. You know how the pumps usually have the 8 buttons, four on either side of the screen? On most models you can hit one of the buttons on the right, usually the two middle ones, and it'll mute the volume. It's worked for me almost every time. You're welcome.

 

Re-watching this scene after all these years......I gotta give full credit to the guy who jumps that deuce-n-half over those squad cars. One of the greatest stunts of all time. I read it was an actual driver, and the scene ended up much crazier than they intended. They did not expect the truck to get that much air. Full send!

For the nerds: First Blood was filmed in Canada. Hope BC to be specific. It’s interesting to look for the Canadianisms in the movie, which are many, although it is set south of the border. The 2 1/2 tonne truck is a Canadian Army spec truck as it has single rear tires. The American version of the same had dualies in the back.

 

These ads are really annoying when you’re pumping almost 200 gallons of diesel fuel into a semi truck

 

Few stores around here had them for a lil while , but somehow they mysteriously disappeared. I hated them.

I’ve often scanned for a button labeled MUTE but I guess they want to keep them secret.

Yup! We visited Hope one time while on vacation to Vancouver and I’ve got the picture of me with my head poking thru a plywood picture of Sly to prove it!

Nice little town. Very, very cool area of Canada.

Ads on a TV at the Pump???? Never noticed.

Probably because after I start the pump I get busy with checking tire pressure, checking oil level, washing windshield. Typically, when these tasks are complete, the tank is full. Get the receipt then off I go.

 

Phones aren’t just for kids you know.
