I would allow more time to stop and have a look around. There are mining ruins along the route and other things to see.

With my rig they smooth out at 35 MPH. They get super smooth at 55 MPH. Anything less then 30 MPH and I can feel my kidney's being pulverized.

Please watch the speed on Saline Valley Road. Multiple roll-overs last year. Yes going fast will smooth out the feel of bumps if you don’t have a suspension and aired down tires to do the job proper. On the other hand you are really playing with fire at that point. Not to mention if you haven’t disabled ABS is is going to take you forever to stop. And of course if you do disable ABS you’ll stop much faster but also lose steering control.

Also, so no one is unexpectedly disappointed, the tubs at the springs are still all closed by Inyo County. The showers work though. But no soaking available yet.

For years I used to get up to near triple digits at the one long straight stretch before Turtle Jims. No longer do I do that after coming across the freshly rolled LC a few years ago. The wheels were basically still spinning when we rolled up to it..

The ruins are right along side the road. And there are plenty of other items to go see along the way if you do your research...

I should mention my post wasn't specific do DV. In fact I just checked and there is a 25 MPH speed limit in the park on dirt roads. So thanks for the reminder. I spend a lot of time around my home. In the Inyo National Forest the speed limit for dirt roads is "as fast as conditions allow". It gives LEO a lot of leeway.

I'm on Kings with 35" PB Rocker Radials aired down to 10 PSI. It's still is a smoother ride at faster speeds. When I have line of sight for over a mile I don't mind traveling fast. Whenever coming up to a corner I always drop it to 25 or less. I don't want to come across as a reckless asshole because I'm far from it. I have EVOC training and 30 years behind the wheel both on and off-road. Your point is taken and appreciated.

    Just the basics
    Many times.
Definitely depends on what you're driving and how much experience you have and what you're comfortable with.

The washboards definitely are a little easier when aired down and going a little faster. Find that sweet spot for your truck, that isn't too fast for the conditions.

It’s long indeed. But pretty drive and you don’t notice the length if you stop to explore like others have said. Lots of neat stuff on the western side of the valley
