Damn that's a bummer! Pulling the dash in any vehicle is a pita. Hope they're generous with the lube.

OP. I am dealing with the same issue now in my 16SR. AC stopped working last winter. Went to dealer 3 times for AC recharge and dye. A fitting and hose were replaced. Kept losing all Freon and pressure. Truck at dealer yesterday and was told it was the Evap core leaking and quote of 1200 to fix it. I have since opened a case with toyota corporate. Im waiting to hear on the next step from them. Good luck OP and myself

Would be curious to see if Toyota will still honor the factory warranty way past the warranty period for your truck. Did you bring it in initially while still under warranty? Luckily I purchased the Platinum 0 deductible extended warranty and it is going to be covered under that. Otherwise I would be looking at a similar bill to fix it. I can see why it is under $300 for the part and the rest in labor. I also had some added switches in the center dash, front camera, front parking sensors and OEM plus audio system wires all running through the dash. Fortunately i made sure to add disconnect plugs on everything and my wires were not in the way or this removal could have been a real PITA, if it wasn’t already! Goodluck Also!
