Yeah man. There are pre-made tunepacks from
There are pre-made tunepacks from OV that offer modifications and improvements for different tire sizes, gear ratios, and fuel used.
These offer improved driveability and some access to improvements. People are still waiting to see if he'll push out a performance and tow version -- which honestly, you can edit and make those yourself with vF.
You can really open up your truck's access to low end torque, clean up airload control mapping, bump up fuel cut off, remove throttle limitations, and set shift points wherever you want. People are currently posting cool stuff about sorting out Torque control locking and unlocking to remove temp locks to keep things smooth. I'm currently seeing if I can turn my ECT into a more eco/traffic friendly mode.
It's fun stuff. If you need anything let me know -- that includes asking about something you don't feel like sifting through the tuning threads if it'd help you!

If you get into the game of doing tunes on other tacomas in the area let me know. One member is in Louisiana that's the closest one that'll flash. Feel like someone in the georgia area would do quite well

I am actually! Willing to drive to meet you, and build something out/get you flashed up with a good tune. I started a thread here in the GA region forum. It's in my signature. The pricing I had to really keep consistent with the other regional tuning people, but still better than $800+ hardware+learning curve, or pedal commander, if you want a one and done drastic improvement + options to upgrade at a later date (say you get new gears or decide to add a gearlocking tow mode)

Holy crap yes I'm gonna find the ovtune thread that tracks this and tag you. The guy from Louisiana is great but he's 6 hours away.

Also im tech stupid. Plus I don't have a pc. I will NEVER play with tunes. So it is a much better thing for me to just get someone who's already on it

Dope, yeah I knew a thread like that existed but never found it.
Yea, you can just send me a message if you want to coordinate and work something out.

The one thing that is harder than learning the tech honestly, is keeping up with the threads about updates!

I mean, some people download boot camp on their macs to be able to run programs for PCs... So it's not impossible! ;)

I'm in Nocross, so it looks like I'm a whole lot closer than you lol, but I wouldn't mind going same time as you, always like to meet new members from the forum
I know, I know. I've got a Windows Tablet/desktop thing too that is literally just a 18" tablet that runs windows and has a flip out kickstand in the back I can use lol. But all work, I'm just so lazy from 6 day work weeks on top of 3 classes this semester

That’s JBs tent haha. Buddy bought it and never used it.

@Stormpeacock I’m not clear on what you’re selling. Are you assisting folks essential install their previously purchased OV tune for $250 (or a different price)? Or are you selling a completely different type of tune. Sorry to ask the dumb questions. I’ve been thinking about getting the OV tune for a while, but I’m kinda like @Dirk Diggler in that I’m slightly tech dumb and have no plans to tweak tunes. Not sure $250 is a bite I’m wanting to take for getting someone to assist, but that’s why I’d like clarification.

No sweat, I'm happy to clarify. I will tune your truck for you! That way you don't have to make all the purchases and get through the learning curve for a (more than likely) one and done mod.
As far as assistance, that's me just trying to be helpful. Help is free :)

To clarify further, the new OVtune software allows us to tune other trucks. We have to pay to unlock credits to access the different vehicle ECUs. I could put on an OV premade tune or tweak one beyond that (which, I think all of the people who have started testing custom tunes have been extremely happy with).

Thanks, but either I’m an idiot or I didn’t formulate my question correctly.

Does someone need to buy the OV tune prior to your services, or are you providing a standalone (separate and different from OV) tune of your own.

I hope I’m not coming across as being a jerk. I’m genuinely interested and want to make sure I’m understanding everything, and all pricing involved.

    No, not at all.
You would not need to buy OVtune programming, tunes, or an OBD cable.
Instead, I can load a specific tune for you onto your truck. So it could be one of the tunes that maybe would have opted for if you bought all of the things yourself from OV. Or if you are interested in specific things like no throttle limits, different shift points, ect., then I can use OV's new software (called vF tuner) to customize those things and install it on your truck.
OV has made a recent move to this new software because they don't want to keep making specific tunes for all the different types of vehicles, they are trying to provide a foundation so then you buy software (and rights) to be able to modify and upload.

Keep asking clarifying questions if needed!

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
