I posted that very size earlier in the thread, but it looks exactly like the ones you quoted.

Based on the comments from Toyo in post 492, would presume SL would have non-aggressive sidewall (regardless of country of manufacture) and the E rated one would have thick/aggressive sidewall if made in the US and thin/non-aggressive sidewall if made in Japan.

I would check the opposite side. I think there is a less aggressive side. Here is the 255/80/R17. Sidewall seems more aggressive than the STMaxx they replaced.

I think you have summed it up to the best of everyone's knowledge so far...

The sidewall thickness/beefyness would be exactly the same on each side of each specific tire model. The only difference between the more aggressive and less aggressive sidewall "look" is a extra line down the middle of the more aggressive side.

So, LT/C would have the less aggressive sidewall? Where did you read this? I'm just curious in case anyone asks me.

Mine are LT load range C, and while the sidewalls aren't as meaty as my KO2's were, there's definitely some tread there. They look better dirty.:)

It's hard to get a good picture of the sidewalls..

Again, all USA Made LT rated tires will have thicker/beefyer (or as some people could say "more aggressive") sidewall rubber due to a different manufacturing process.

I don't think we know yet if SL/P rated USA made tires have thicker sidewall rubber than Japan made LT tires?

All Japan made LT and P rated tires have thinner sidewall rubber (or as some people could say "less aggressive")

Angles can still be deceiving but maybe this is a loose standard we can use to measure/compare?

    Country of manufacture: Japan
    Size: LT265/75R16
    Load Rating: E

    Thank you!

Thank you. I was confused because someone had said that anything lighter than LT/E would have the thinner sidewall tread. Mine are LT/C but I think I have the thicker sidewall tread.

    Nice! Here's mine, LT285/70R17, load range C

    Made in USA..

    Also just noticed this! :(

    20201003_135340_HDR_(1).jpg

I might swap in the spare until I can get it to my tire guy to look at it. My best guess is it's junk.

    Any thoughts?

Got mine installed today. Drove around 50 miles so far highway. Like them more than my ko2’s noise and smoothness wise highway. Looks wise I’m happy with them. America’s discount tire refused to install them though. So I had to pick them up and go to another place for install. But what Eva. 120B009F-9238-4962-8E95-9E629FF6C86F.jpg

Ya that's at least a couple of mm difference for sure....

I ordered a set of SL 265/75/16 from 4WParts.com because they can ship them to Canada. I just sent them an email asking if its possible to have a set thats made in USA?? I probably won't get them for a while as I just got an email saying due to demand and COVID there is going to be an extra delay.
    Anyway, I'll keep you posted....

Mine don’t look too aggressive in my opinion. Im coming from GoodYear Duratracs which had very aggressive side bite. LT255/80R17 Made in USA. I told America’s Tire to put aggressive side out. They said they don’t think AT III has different sides and it doesn’t appear they do.
