I look forward to buying a coastal offroad one.. I really like the weld it yourself idea and the simple clean design of their flat plate bumper. Kinda want it without the pine tree cut out though lol

 

Saw a good looking 2001-2004 on the way home from the trail today. Looks like it's lifted but with street tires. Had a plate bumper on front too, not sure what brand.

 

How heavy of a load? Did you run the add a leaf at all?

 

Wow, I really like that set up! I've always been up in the air about step sides but that sucker looks awesome with the matching canopy!

 

No add-a-leaf. This is the load: RTT, cooler, 10 gallons gas and other camping gear. Leafs are flat here. I had more shit before the trip that I ended up pulling out because the leafs started to go negative. No idea on the overall weight but this was about the limit and still have some travel for wheeling.

 

Yeah, looked really good. Just noticed it's a prerunner too.

 

Oof that is soft. I've been really tempted by the relative inexpensiveness of the OME kit but the more research I do it's just not going to work with the constant load I want to carry

I know you told me to stay away in the past and you recommended a custom set from an outfit in CO I think? I've got eon blues alcans on the mind so I forgot what company you said lol

 

Alcans, yes. The Dakars are great leafs but not for carrying a constant, heavyish load. Alcans will be much better for that since you can tell them how much constant weight you will be carrying.

 

Do you think the OME greaseable shackles would work with a set of alcans?

 

I don't see why not. Only question is if the bushing are the same size. Otherwise the bolts and side plates should work without issue. You could ask Alcan when you get a quote for the springs.

I wouldn't be surprised if they also sell a set themselves... I kinda wanna just finish building everything and adding everything so I can weigh myself and give them an accurate true number, but then I'd be riding on these flat stock springs for a LONG time

 

Alcans come with bushings that are (I believe) the same size as OMEs. Don't see why they're shackles wouldn't work with them. I'm just using the grease-able bolts from Daystar myself

 

What rear shocks are you running with your alcans? And what kinda lift do you have them build for you?

 

Yup, that's the other option. I used the Daystar bolts for the front of the leafs and the OME greaseables in the rear. Worked good.

 

They built them to 3" lift, running the Icon 2.0s in the back

Yeah they work good except I snapped a zerk on one of them lol. Trying to push that super sticky Energy suspenion lube through them is tough

 

Didn't have issues with that. I use LockNLube stuff with Redline red tractor grease, works great.

Yeah I didn't have issues getting other types through the gun until I started using the silicone grease, that stuff is thick and sticky as hell. I guess that's why it's works well on poly but damn you gotta practically break the grease gun to push that stuff through it.

If it gets on your clothes they just go in the trash lol. Actually..putting it in someone's hair would be a messed up but funny prank.
