I had 2 2nd Gen Manuals prior to my 3rd Gen Manual, the Transmission itself is light years ahead in smoothness and ease of shifting! You will notice the lack of low end compared to the 2nd but if you rev it out there is power to be had, also the Reverse sucks, feels like a highway gear.

Thank you. When my 2nd gen was new, reverse was wide open. Sucked backing up a trailer. Now that its broken in, it acts normal.

Yes, backing up with a trailer is definitely where it is noticeable, hope you get a chance to drive a 3rd Gen as you should really like it.

Sounds to me like it is not slipping. If it were slipping in sure your RPMs would rise but not increase your road speed. IT sounds more like you are pressing too hard on the throttle and the engine is trying to catch up and switch to Otto cycle very roughly. This bucking is well documented and is supposed to be addressed by the 04B13 update. Try to get this update done and then see if you still have your perceived clutch Slip

You have an answer to everything I say. The link clearly states that redline manufactures Passenger car AND racing oil with ZDDP in it. Even API certified oil still has ZDDP in it.

    1200ppm for PCMO
    2200ppm for Racing Oil.

I wouldn't say a perceived clutch slip, but more of not thinking about what the title and adhd style reading comprehension meaning at a quick glance and fast read, seemed like what was in my head was needed to be added to the conversation rather it was or not is always the question.

But seriously, I didn't realize at first you folks were talking about clutch slipping, but the conversations seemed similar to my complaints. I am not sure (knock on wood) I have ever experienced a slipping clutch that I recall.

Stumbled across this thread while trying to figure out if my clutch is toast or not and you seem to be pretty educated in the matter but anyways, what was being talked about at the very beginning of the thread is exactly what mine is doing. Just started doing it recently but When it's chilly/cold out my clutch will slip "foot completely off the clutch, rpms go up but speed doesn't" I've tried letting the truck warm up to operating temps and it didn't help but it will completely stop doing it once I drive a few miles and i guess the transmission warms up.

Maybe not enough gas and clutch coordination ? It’s very easy to stall these trucks . Especially if your on a incline .my biggest complaint is how clunky the gear shifts can be especially going into 5th gear . No matter how u release the clutch pedal u still get a clunk .

Mine will do the same thing. I think a fee guys on here have the same issue. Kind of a slip / stutter just on the first shift on a cold morning. Can never get it to duplicate after that.

I had that clunk with the accumulator. Now with the ADM, no more clunk unless im sloppy. Most of the time when i drive its super smooth now.

Also, i wouldnt say its very easy to stall these trucks, i actually found it to be the opposite. This truck is very easy to drive. First is nice and low, reverse though is a different story. There is a 2wd LOW mod for that, works beautifully.

Would like to add, i had a bit of a shudder when starting uphills with the accumulator, with the ADM its gone.

This isn't the usual jerky/clunk like everyone is talking about. My clutch is actually slipping. Foot completely off the clutch, rpm's raise but speed doesn't.

Gotcha. That sounds like a bigger problem than what I’ve got occasionally. It might be the end of that clutch’s life.

90,*** I was told awhile back that the clutches in these trucks were garbage but kinda figured it'd last longer than it has.

Anybody know any good places to get aftermarket clutch/components? Tried urd but they're out of stock. Don't really want to go back OEM if I can go aftermarket for the same price and have a little piece of mind knowing it'll last.
