Any Navy/Marine folk have an affinity to cement because of its resemblance to ole Ironsides? Ironically before ground pounding green came about...

One of the reasons why I bought it to be honest. Navy veteran here. 1999-2010. Served aboard the USS Boxer LHD-4 from 2004-2007. Haze grey and underway!! Deployed twice, a 9 month and 6 month. Saw 25 different countries on both Westpacs.
Sucked going through it but looking back, best years of my life.

Good going you guys and thanks for serving.

Me: USS Gen. H.W. Butner T-AP113 out of the Brooklyn Army Base in NYC transporting troops and dependents to Bremerhaven Germany and Southampton England and back. 14 trips to Europe in 1955-1956. Any Army grunts or Air Force airdales on here that we might have given a ride?

USS Allagash AO-97: Fleet oiler/tanker/sea going gas station out of Newport RI. Black oil, jet fuel and aviation gasoline. Navy still flying prop planes back then. 1956-1957. We used the avgas in our Zippo windproof cigarette lighters. We refueled 3 of the still in commission battleships back then: USS Wisconsin, USS New Jersey and the USS Iowa. Those are big mother ships! And many aircraft carriers, cruiser and destroyers (tin cans) too. 3 trips to the Med, Caribbean and the Arctic.

A great time that got me started right.

    God Bless the USA.

    Jolly

Sounds about right. They asked me to fill out a “dream sheet” when I was going to ATC school. I put in this order, east coast, overseas and then west coast last. Where do you think they sent me first. West coast of course, NAS Lemoore. Middle of cow country central valley CA. Growing up in Indiana, never went west of Missouri lol. However, been on the west coast ever since I came out here for the Navy so things happen to always work out :D

I was an ET on the Stennis from 2010-2015. I liked the ATC's, always treated me like family.

Nice!! Yeah the AC community was awesome. I was an AC at NAS Lemoore, USS Boxer, and NAS Fallon. Got out as an AC1(AW/SW) after serving 10 years. I had enough of moving around and wanted some stability in my life plus it helps that ACs on the outside world make 4x as much as being in so no brainer for me. Thankyou as well for serving :hattip:

I got a ride on the Stennis back around 1997 when the ship was returning from a 6 month deployment to the Persian Gulf.
My son was an AME (Green shirt) with VFA131 Wildcats F/A 18's.
It was the ships first Tiger Cruise. Went aboard in Pearl Harbor and then 7 days to her home port in San Diego.
Absolutely awesome trip. It was great getting a steel deck under my feet again after doing so in the 1950's. (See above.)
They did an airshow for us while at sea. Holy Crap was that good. Dropping live ordnance, 500 and 2000 pound bombs about a mile away.
    What a ride!

The year I arrived at Millington was the year they were phasing everything over to Pcola. When I arrived we had 40000 or so students, all of which had to go through my BAS before being seen anywhere else. We saw more patients than the free clinic in Memphis, about 400 a day. The next year it was a ghost town.
