well i just bought a new 2011 tacoma a few months ago,a nd i am thinking about getting some bf TA KO for it. i have been hearing good reports on the thru out the years, and was wondering if that was a great tire for this truck. i do not go offroading much at all, but do alot of highway driving, and the winters are bad in the snow belt where i live. do any of you guys have a better option for me without going over the price of apx. $ 670.00 shipped?

i did do a little mudding today with the stock tires ... i was kinda surprised how well it did. even with it in 2 wd. on the way back out of the trails.
please let me know if you guys have any better ideas for tires for me.

    thanks, Adam:confused:

i'm running these tires on my truck and i love 'em. it sounds like with your criteria, they would work well for you. they're very good for an AT on the highway, but do excellent in light-to-medium off-roading. in the winter i snowboard almost every weekend and they are fantastic in the snow.

they are a bit heavy (gas mileage may suffer slightly).

I don't think you can go wrong with the bfg t/a's (I've gone through 6 sets over the years.)

I don't think you'll find BFG A/T's for $670 shipped... The other tire that I would consider is the Dueler Revo. I've ran both now and dry/wet traction is about the same but in the snow and ice I preferred the Dueler Revo. They're a bit cheaper as well.

Yeah you are probably looking at around 200 a tire, so 670 shipped might be pushing it. I am sure someone on here knows for sure though.

I run the BFG AT KO's and love them. They look good and last along time.
I do however run Michelin X-ice's on steel wheels in the winter. Less salt and wear and tear on my alloy wheels.
The BFG's are good in the deep snow but the x-ice's are much better on everyday packed roads.

I was just looking at the BFG AT's on discounttiredirect and it was a price of $812 with the free shipping. On tire rack they are cheaper, but they will hit you with the shipping.

i purchased mine and got them installed at discount (america's) tire last october for $670 (and then used a $70 BFGoodrich mail-in-rebate to bring total OTD price to $600).

took a day of bargaining and calling around to all the tire shops in the area, but i was able to save some serious cash! if there aren't any deals out there, make your own! :)

edit: my tires are 31x10.50r15. can't speak for different sizes...

I like my Duratracs. But had I not got them I would have gotten the BFG's. Only 2 tires I was really looking at. They should serve you well.

I had them on my Dakota, they were great. This time I opted for price and put the Grabber AT2 on. I think the Grabbers actually ride a little bit better.

I have a friend who has these on a Sierra 1500, and he loves them. He has about 35K on them so far and they look great given the mileage.

if the BFG's are a little outta your budget, look into General Grabber AT2's, they are identical to the BFG's and also have great reviews.

Can't speak too much on the mileage part although I have almost 3000 miles on mine and the little hairs that stick off the tires have barely worn off yet. They ride great for a D load range tire. Ur size may be a C load range though so it should ride even softer. Run em in some mild red clay mud the other day and as long as u keep a touch of wheel spin to clean em out they do great. I'm sure black mud wouldn't be as bad. My dad runs the exact same tire I do on his 2500HD and gets around 65 to 70K out of em and he pulls a 24ft enclosed trailer all the time. So I say jump on em.

I have had them in the past and wound up selling the truck (older toyota 4x4) before I wore them out. Had 25K on them and probably would have gone another 25K. I also have a buddy who does land surveying and has them on his company truck. They get about 60K out of them on a chevy fullsize, lots of highway and fully loaded most of the time.

My uncle has the BFG AT's on his Mazda and Heep and he seems to like them. They have done good for mild off-roading and are comfortable on the highway.

Also take a look at Goodyear Duratracs. I have them on my Taco and they are beefy as heck for an AT and they handle wonderfully in the rain. Still gotta try them in the mud though.
